A Quick and easy setup for using Soft SampleCell within and without Pro Tools.
Soft SampleCell Setup – Install Soft SampleCell (SSC). Page 3 in SSC manual.- Configure OMS, Soft Sample Cell should be recognized by OMS. Page 4 in SSC manual.- Read SSC Manual on Page 87 about Total Session Recall.To hear Soft Sample Cell in stand alone mode:1. Launch SSC.2. In SSC > Soft SampleCell Setup> Choose Sound Manager 3.101.3. In SSC > File > Open > Select an instrument (to load into a SSC bank). 4. In the SSC bank, set the outputs to 1 & 2.5. Click on the Sample Map Window. (Looks like a small keyboard).6. With the mouse or your MIDI keyboard controller you may play the SSC keyboard and hear audio.To hear Soft SampleCell within a Pro Tools session:1. Launch Pro Tools.2. Launch Soft SampleCell. SSC must be launched after Pro Tools.3. In Pro Tools, create a MIDI track and a Stereo Aux. Input track.4. Set the output of the MIDI track to Sample Cell, channel 1. Record enable MIDI track.5. In SSC > Soft SampleCell Setup > Choose Direct Connect. 6. In SSC > File > Open > Select an instrument (to load into a SSC bank). 7. In the SSC bank, set the outputs to 1 & 2. Set the Channel to channel 1.8. In Pro Tools, instantiate the SSC plug-in on the Stereo Aux. Input track. (Multichannel plug-in).9. In the SSC Plug-in Window, click on “no link selected” and select Output 1 & 2. 10.Play your keyboard controller and you will hear SSC and receive level into the MIDI and Stereo Aux. Input track.11.Now record to the MIDI track.——————————————————Latency issues:1. Replace the Digidesign Stream Manager extension in the extensions folder on the Mac with the extension of the same name from the SSC installer disk: a) Mac Hard Drive > System Folder > Extensions Folder > Trash Digidesign Stream Manager extension. b) SSC Installer CD. View menu > As List. Beta Bug Fix Folder > Drag and drop Digidesign Stream Manager into Extensions Folder on Mac Hard Drive. 2. Replace the Direct Connect plug-in in the plug-ins folder on the Mac with the plug-in of the same name from the SSC installer disk: a) Mac Hard Drive > System Folder > DAE Folder > Plug-Ins Folder > Trash Direct Connect. b) SSC Installer CD. View menu > As List. Beta Bug Fix Folder > Drag and drop Direct Connect Plug-in to Plug-ins folder on Mac Hard Drive. 3. Empty trash.
