Pro Tools for Windows 98se or ME is giving me a “DAE is running low on memory” error. What can I do?

The memory low error when launching Pro Tools on windows
can indicate that the wavedriver is corrupted.

-Check Device Manager, sound video and game controllers, and make sure the Digidesign 001 is there.

– If it is not present look in the Device Manager list for a “PCI multimedia device” with a ? next to it. This would indicate the wave driver was not installed correctly.

– To remove the Wavedriver or unknown device, click on the
device and click remove. Open any folder, click view, folder options, View, Hidden files, show all files and apply.

– Do a find for “DALWDM” then delete any items listed. Restart and guide the user throughout the proper installation. Make sure to enable “DMA”
