Output Software Activation Instructions
In this article, we will show you how to register and install your Output software for Windows and Mac. We broke this process down into the 3 steps:
- Register your product
- Download and install Output Hub
- Download and install your software
- Set Up Native Access and Kontakt Player
- Installing Output Expansion packs
Remember to install Native Access and Kontakt!
(Does not apply to Portal, Movement, Thermal, or FX Expansion.)
In order to use your Output products, you will need to to install Kontakt 7 Player and Native Access. Native Access is the application that tells Kontakt where to find instrument libraries, including third-party plug-ins such as Output software. Once that is done, you can run your Output software in Kontakt Player 7.
In summary, make sure you do the following:
- Create a Native Instruments account.
- Download and install Native Access.
- Download and install Kontakt Player 7.
Register Your Product
In order to register your Output software, we need to begin by creating an account with Output. If you already have an account, just use that one. After doing this, you need to register your serial number and fill out the registration form. Follow the instructions below to register your product.
- Create an account or log in.
- Visit Output’s Registration Page.
- Enter the code found in the Software Activation Instructions email sent by your Sweetwater Sales Engineer.
- Click Submit.
Download and Install Output Hub
After registering your product with Output, you should have received a product confirmation email. From there, you can download and install Output Hub, an online application that allows you to obtain and manage all your Output products. Follow the instructions below to download and install Output Hub.
- Locate the new email from Output and click Download Output Hub.
- Download Output Hub for either Windows or Mac.
- Go to your Downloads folder and double-click the Output Hub installer file.
- Run the installer.
Download and Install Your Software
Now that you have successfully installed Output Hub, all we have to do is to download and install your software. This is all done in Output Hub by selecting your product, clicking Download, and selecting where to save it to.
- Go to your Applications and select Output Hub.
- Log in to your account.
- Find your product and select Download.
- Choose a location for your product to be installed to.
- Remember this location! You will need to locate this again when you set up your Output library in Native Access in the next section.
Set Up Native Access and Kontakt Player 7
(Does not apply to Portal, Movement, Thermal, or FX Expansion.)
Before we dive into this final section, make sure to do the following 3 things if you haven’t already:
- Create a Native Instruments account.
- Download and install Native Access.
- Download and install Kontakt Player 5.
After completing the list above, the last thing you need to do is install your products in Native Access so that Kontakt knows where to look to find your Output libraries. Go to Native Instruments’ article and read 2. Setting Up a New Third Party KONTAKT Library for the step-by-step guide. You can also watch the video below to see this process (0:52-1:49).
Remember: When adding your Output serial number in Native Access, select the same folder you saved the library to in step 4 of the last section.
Installing Output Expansion packs
If you purchased an Output Expansion pack, you must scan them within the standalone version of Kontakt Player.
- Launch Output Hub, locate your instrument engine and click +Expansions.
- Click Download, and select the parent folder where the instrument engine resides.
- Make sure that it’s moved to the parent folder, and NOT the instrument engine’s folder where the presets reside.
- For example, if your instrument engine folder is on the desktop, select the desktop folder. NOT the instrument engine folder.
- Launch the standalone Kontakt Player and load your instrument.
- Once the instrument is loaded, click Preset, then double-click —SCAN—.nka,
- Kontakt will then scan the preset folder and your expansion presets will then be added.
- If they don’t appear, make sure you’ve installed them to the correct directory.
