Will I have to optimize or de-fragment the drive once in a while, like a regular computer?
No. Disk de-fragmentation occurs when very small amounts of data (like a short word document) are skipped over so that larger amounts of data can be stored. The HDR stores all data as large 500kb chunks, which eliminates the small pieces of data to be skipped over.
