Back up Nektar Impact user presets

Before performing a factory reset, it’s always good practice to back up your user presets. Backing up Nektar Impact series presets requires you to transfer them via SysEx on your computer. If you’re not familiar with SysEx and how it works, keep this tab open and please check out our guide on how to send SysEx files on Mac and PC.

  1. Connect your Impact to your computer and power it on.
  2. Hold the Shift and Patch >, then press Setup.
  3. Open your SysEx software and set it up, so it’s receiving (recording) the incoming data.
  4. Press the G4 key on the keyboard to begin the SysEx data transfer. The display will read Sys.
  5. Once you see 000 on the display, stop recording your SysEx software.
  6. Save the SysEx file and give it a unique name such as Impact User Presets.
