My Mac computer running OS X 10.9 Mavericks isn’t communicating with my Avid S3L system.
If you’re Mac running OS X Mavericks is not communicating with your Avid S3L system, you’ll need to configure Audio Video Bridging (AVB). Mavericks already has AVB enabled, so you do not need to run the Avid AVB64 installer like you do for Macs running Mountain Lion.
To configure your computer for AVB, follow these steps:
- Connect the ethernet cable from your S3 control surface to your computer.
- Power on your S3L system.
- Power on your computer.
- Go to Applications>Utilities>Audio MIDI Setup
- Click on the Window menu and choose “Show Network Device Browser.”
- You will see several AVB devices in this window when your S3L is connected. Select Avid AVB64. Once it is checked, you will see it in the available audio devices list.
- Launch Pro Tools and select Playback Engine from the Setup menu at the top. Choose Avid AVB64 as the playback engine.
- You should now see your Pro Tools computer in the VENUE software.
