I’ve lowered my hardware buffer in Pro Tools, but I’m still getting latency when I try to record. Here’s a recording solution to help.
1. Create a mono Aux track setting the input to your microphone channel.
2. Create a send on the Aux track setting it to a bus (ie bus 1)
3. Create and audio track, setting the input to the bus you are sending the Aux track to (ie bus 1)
4. Set the audio track to record ready. Also mute the track. You will notice that the meter on the track still responds to the microphone send on the Aux.
You can now record and monitor the live microphone via the Aux track. While performing playback and mixing, simply mute the Aux input track to stop monitoring the live mic.
