How do I load an EXB – PCM 03

EXBPCM-03 is a little different, because it uses an .SNG (Song) file in addition to the program (.PCG) file. When you initially load the .PCG and .SNG files, an association is made and all works fine. However, to be absolutely correct, even after the module is turned off and back on, an association between the EXB bank which contains EXBPCM03 sounds and the MUTLI mode must be made, so that Multi knows where to get the playback sounds from.

1. Insert EXBPCM-03 disk in the drive.
2. Press the DISK button.
3. With “C_Bank.PCG” highlighted”, press F8 button, (“Utility” on the screen)
4. Press the down cursor button twice to select “Load Selected”.
5. Press the F8 button. (OK)
6. Using the value dial or INC/DEC buttons, check the box next to “Load C_Bank.SNG too”
7. Press the down cursor button twice to select “PCG Contents “ALL”.
8. Using the value dial, value slider or the INC/DEC buttons, set “ALL” to “I-C”. Note: “I-C” indicates that you’ll be loading the previously selected C_Bank..PCG from the disk.
9. Press the right cursor button to highlight the parameter “I-A” on the screen. This is the variable that selects the destination bank where the file will be placed.
10. Using the Dial, value slider or the INC/DEC buttons, select your external bank of choice, “E-A to E-H”.
11. Using the value dial or INC/DEC buttons, check the box next to “Load track events”.
12. Press F8 to load.

Now we need to make a bank reference for the Multi mode. Again, this is required so that the next time you power up, the RPPR Patterns from EXBPCM03 play back using the EXB bank that you just loaded the PCM03 sounds into.

1. Press the GLOBAL button.
2. Press the MENU button.
3. Press the F1 button.
4. Press the F8 button. (OPEN)
5. Press the F8 button. (UTILITY)
6. Press the down cursor button until “CHANGE ALL BANK REFERENCES” is selected.
7. Press the F8 button (OK)
8. Press the cursor button(s) > & ^ until “I-C ~> I-C” is highlighted.
9. Using the value dial or INC/DEC buttons, change the setting so that it reads “I-C ~> XX”
Note: XX = the EXB bank that you loaded the PCM03 sounds into. So if you loaded them into E-C for example, set this parameter to E-C as well.
10. Press the cursor button(s) > & ^ until “MULTI” is highlighted.
11. Using the value dial or INC/DEC buttons, check the box next to “MULTI”
12. Press the F8 button (OK)
13. Press the F8 button (Utility)
14. Press down cursor button until “WRITE GLOBAL SETTING” is highlighted.
15. Press the F8 button (OK)
16. Press the F8 button, again (OK).

Now, you’ll always have proper playback of the EXBPCM03 RPPR patterns.

Note: As the Multi Mode does not retain setting after shut off, you will have to reload the .SNG file when you power back on.
