How do I know if my EZbus is properly installed in WinXP / WinME?

With your EZbus connected to your computer via USB and powered on, you should see an EZbus icon in your Windows task bar, indicating that the computer and the EZbus are communicating. If the icon is not present, it’s time to dig a little deeper. Note that on XP machines, the EZbus should be powered up and connected prior to booting up your computer.

1) Right-click on My Computer and go to Properties. Navigate to the Device Manager and click on the “+” next to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. The EZbus should appear as two line-items: EZbus Control Surface Engine and EZbus. On certain systems, the second line-item may be listed as USB Audio Device.

2) Go to the Programs folder on your C (System) drive. Inside that folder should be another folder named Event, which contains a number of additional folders. If the Event folder is not present, or if you did not see the EZbus listed as outlined in the preceding paragraph, you’ll need to reinstall your EZbus. Please follow the steps 3 through XX to uninstall and reinstall the EZbus.

3) Turn the EZbus power ON

4) Within Windows, go to Control Panels > System. In Win XP, click on the Hardware tab, followed by Device Manager. In Win ME, go directly to Device Manager. Now select Sound, Video & Game Controllers. In Win XP, right-click on EZbus Control Surface Engine and select Remove. In WinME, highlight EZbus Control Surface Engine then click the Remove button. Follow the same procedure to remove EZbus (or USB Audio Device, if that’s what is listed).

5) Turn the EZbus OFF, and reboot your computer.

6) Within Windows, select Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, highlight Event EZbus and select Remove. Answer OK in response to all subsequent warning messages, then reboot your computer.

7) Now it’s time to reinstall the Ezbus software components. Insert the EZbus installation disc into your CD-ROM drive, and run SETUP.EXE. Note that if either of the following error messages appear, simply click on Ignore.

Error Message – “Make sure that EZbus is turned on”
Error Message- ” Installation Failed”

When the installation routine is complete, reboot your computer.

8) Turn the EZbus ON. A Windows “Found New Hardware” dialog box will appear.
Click OK or Install (whichever option appears) to continue installation. If the error message below appears, simply ignore it and select Continue Anyway.

Error Message – “Alert!!! No XP logo”

This completes the EZbus installation. Please reboot your computer before continuing.

In certain cases, you may see the error message:

Error Message – “Some Files Are Needed”

If this occurs, click on the Browse button and browse to C: \ Windows \ System 32 \ Drivers. Sect the file EZbus.sys, then click the Finish button. This completes the EZbus installation. Please reboot your computer before continuing.
