Instructions for configuring Logic and OMS for a MOTU USB interface, Using a MOTU USB MIDI interface with Logic and OMS (MTPAV, MIDIExpXT, MicroExp, Fastlane)

A. Setting up OMS
1. Install OMS 2.3.8 _first_ (before freemidi or MOTU USB drivers), and restart the computer.
2. Install the latest version of FreMIDI (1.47) and restart the computer again.
*(you don’t need to use FreeMIDI, however FreeMIDI installs MOTU drivers for USB device “into” OMS)
3. Launch OMS Setup
4. Follow the steps to create an OMS Setup
* at the “OMS Driver Search” page, be sure NOT to check modem or printer.
be sure that OMS automatically detects the MOTU USB interface.
5. Complete your OMS Setup by adding MIDI devices (STUDIO menu, NEW device), and specifying which port they’re attached to.

B. Setting up Logic
1. From the Options Menu in Logic, under Settings, choose MIDI interface Communication.
2. In this window, select “Use OMS if available”. You should then Quit and relaunch Logic for these changes to take effect.
3. In Logic’s Arrange window, now choose a MIDI output that you would like to assign a track to. If configured correctly, this will correlate to the device you specified in your OMS setup.
