Installing optional third party plug-ins (i.e. Protron or Wave Shell) or third party hardware (i.e. NuVerb/TDM) will cause the error “DSPs are maxed out” when you try to assign any plug-in.
Plug-ins access DAE memory. If DAE’s memory is set too small this error may present itself. Try increasing the preferred memory of DAE to at least 8000K for large third party Plug-Ins such as Protron or the Waves Shell. If installing a NuVerb card with a TDM piggyback, you must allocate 10,000MB of RAM or more to the preferred memory size of DAE.
