How do I hook up my MOTU MTPAV, MOTU audio interface (e.g. 2408) , and Adats to sync to Steinberg Cubase?
The 9pin sync cable to the PCI324 card is not necessary- it is not implemented on the PC (and will not provide sync), so it will have no effect. In the PCI324 console, you’ll want to set the clock source to Adat bank X optical (X being one of your adat banks). Then you can set Cubase to be the master timecode generator. Go to Options- Synchronization. Change the Sync Out – Midi Timecode to be the MTPAV-sync or MTPAV-Adat. Make sure your frame rates match (probably 30 frame non-drop). The Sync Source Timecode Base should be Intern, tempo base the same. This should send timecode to the MTPAV which will send it on to the Adats.
