“FATAL ERROR” or “kext” message when running newly installed GEARBOX 3.x.
There is a receipt or an extension file that is not allowing you to do a fresh reinstall but rather an update on top of GEARBOX 1. Please first uninstall GEARBOX 3.0. Then, we suggest that you go to these directories on your MAC and delete the following files.
MAC HD> LIBRARY>RECEIPTS
Delete all LINE 6 titled files and VERY IMPORTANT:
Delete: GEARBOX.PKG
MAC HD> SYSTEM> LIBRARY> EXTENSIONS>
Line 6 Audio.kext
Please also click the SPOTLIGHT icon at the top right hand corner of your FINDER tool bar (looks like a magnifying glass) and do a search for Line 6. Please delete all instances that pop up.
Also, you may want to repair your disk permissions:
HD>APPLICATIONS>UTILITIES>DISK UTILITY>
Please repair permissions on your main HD.
Additionally, you can remove all the Line 6 Software and Drivers on your MAC by running the Line 6 Drivers Uninstaller. When installing the Line 6 Drivers, you will click “continue” three times and there will be an option to “customize” the installer. Select this and make sure there is a check mark next to UNINSTALLER. Continue the installation. When finished you will have a new application in the Line 6 folder that will uninstall all the drivers in your system. Run this program then move the rest of the Line 6 Folders and application into the trash.
After you have deleted all of these files and repaired your disk permissions, please download a fresh copy of GEARBOX 3.0 here:
http://www.line6.com/software/
Install this and make sure that the CONTINUE button pops up that prompts you to install a fresh copy. You do not want to do an update from GEARBOX 1. If this message pops up, please verify that those specific files mentioned above have been deleted and repeat the above steps.
