I have a Digidesign MIDI I/O and Digital Performer 3. DP3 can’t transmit MIDI Beat Clock out of the MIDI I/O, but it CAN send MTC. What’s Wrong?
Sweetwater has tested this combination, and have duplicated the problem. While DP3 allows you to choose a specific port of an interface to send Midi Time Code (MTC), it only allows you to choose an interface – not a specific port – to transmit Midi Beat Clock.
Interfaces like the MOTU MTPAV or Midi Express XT can receive beat clock and automatically send it out all midi ports; the MIDI I/O however cannot do this.
Digital Performer 4 (DP4) solves this by allowing you to choose specific midi ports on the MIDI I/O to send beat clock out. If you’re determined to keep using DP3, you may want to consider a MOTU midi interface.
