How to tell the difference between straight through and crossover Ethernet cables?
To tell the difference between an Ethernet straight through cable vs. a crossover cable, hold up both ends of the cable and compare the pinouts. If the color coated wires are in the same order on each end then the cable is a straight through. If they are different then it is a crossover cable.
