Compatible Hard Drives, Zip Drives, and Expansion Memory
This information applies to the A4000 and A5000.
The A4000 and A5000 have storage options and memory expansion options to enhance performance and functionality. An internal hard drive (IDE or SCSI) or ATAPI Zip drive can be installed to increase storage capacity. Sample memory can be increased by installing commercially available SIMMs. All optional memory and storage devices must conform to the following specifications:
Internal Hard Drives
* 3.5 inch internal hard drive
* Power supply – +5V maximum 2400 mA
* Interface – 50-pin SCSI, or 40-pin EIDE
Internal Zip Drives
* Power supply – +5V, 0.8A
* Interface – 40-pin ATAPI
External CD-R/RW Drives
* Interface – 50-pin SCSI
Expansion Memory
* Type – 72-pin SIMM modules (requires identical size if used in pairs)
* Bit Width – x32 bit (no parity) or x36 bit (parity)
* Size – 4MB, 8MB, 16MB, or 32MB
