Clever Content Conflict with Pro Tools Mac
December 15, 2000Digidesign has determined that there may be a serious extension conflict between Pro Tools Mac software and the extensions installed by the program “Clever Content Viewer”, an internet browser add-on that is used to view websites using the Clever Content format. The Clever Content Viewer installer puts items in your System Folder/Extensions folder as well as your browser Plug-ins folder. To uninstall Clever Content Viewer, please go to http://alchemedia.com/products/uninstall.html and download the uninstaller, or run the Uninstall program from the installer. (all extensions beginning with the name “clevercontent…” must be removed from your system folder) After removing Clever Content Viewer you will need to power down both your computer and Pro Tools hardware, then power on your Pro Tools hardware and reboot.Reported symptoms may include: – Pro Tools freezes when launched – Pro Tools freezes when DAE is launched – Error message that there are two Digisystem Inits – DAE corrupted error message – No hardware found error message If you are not sure that this program has been completely uninstalled, use Sherlock or Command F and do a search on your hard drive for both “clevercontent” and “clever content”. It is not necessary to remove the “Clever Content Viewer” plug-in from your browser plug-ins folder, but it will not work without the “CleverContentExtension” and “CleverContentLibrary” in your System Folder/Extensions folder. (older installations of Clever Content may have different file names, but the latest installer puts those 3 items on your hard drive) To manually uninstall, drag all of these items to the trash and delete.
