Modern Attitude, Classic PRS Craftsmanship
Built for players who want a modern-focused guitar, the PRS Tekton pairs the brand’s renowned craftsmanship with contemporary specs and high-performance appointments. This solidbody electric guitar rests on a mahogany foundation, enhanced with aerodynamic contours and dressed with a spotlight-ready figured mango top. The maple neck features PRS’s thinner Modern D profile, bolstered by an imperceptible heel, an extended scale length, and a lightning-quick 16-inch-radius ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo stainless steel frets. Primed for high-octane tone, the Tekton features a set of PRS’s Stylus humbuckers, which are voiced to deliver a sublime fusion of high-fidelity clarity and upper-midrange excitement that pairs equally well with old-school tube amps and state-of-the-art digital rigs. Moreover, the Tekton’s PRS hardtail bridge, reinforced by PRS Phase III locking tuners, injects this axe with sufficient tuning stability to withstand spur-of-the-moment drop tunings without breaking a sweat. In the mid-1980s, Paul Reed Smith’s name quickly became synonymous with top-shelf instruments with a decidedly modern attitude, and the PRS Tekton boldly blazes that same trail. Players searching for a pro-caliber contemporary instrument with incendiary tone, effortless playability, and unmistakable PRS style will feel right at home with the Tekton.

A neck built for technical playing
Engineered for players with technical inclinations, the Tekton’s thinner Modern D profile is a shredder’s dream. Markedly different from PRS’s established carves, including the Pattern Thin profile, this shape falls somewhere between PRS’s ’80s-era Wide Thin shape and the ruler-flat profile of most modern shred guitars. The Tekton features bolt-on construction with a super-unobtrusive heel shape that’s perfect for fast, fluid playing. You also get a 16-inch-radius ebony fingerboard crowned with 24 jumbo-sized stainless steel frets. The radius is flat enough for fleet-fingered fret-hand maneuvers, yet comfortable during chording and rhythm work. Finally, the 25.5-inch scale provides tighter note articulation and tolerates down-tuning better than PRS’s typical 25-inch scale.
Stylus humbuckers: hi-fi tone meets midrange bite
For the Tekton, PRS developed a brand-new humbucker — the Stylus. The Stylus marks a significant sonic shift for PRS, trading the brand’s usual vintage-leaning voice for a massive helping of modern clarity. For the most part, this pickup delivers a flat, hi-fi sound that works equally well with tube amps and digital modelers. You also get a distinctive upper-midrange bump that brings your overall tone to life, adding tons of ear-pleasing harmonics. The Stylus is a moderate-output pickup that produces enough output to drive your amp while remaining tame enough to avoid overloading your modeler and effects. Under low gain, this pickup delivers glassy cleans. Conversely, high-gain devotees will appreciate this humbucker’s articulate grind, which infuses your metal riffs with a thunderous growl and your pinch harmonics with a searing scream. Beyond that, the Tekton includes an onboard coil tap, providing you with access to glorious single-coil textures.
Rock-solid tuning, even down low
PRS instruments have always come equipped with premium-quality hardware, and the Tekton is no exception. The PRS hardtail bridge offers unparalleled intonation, even when down-tuned. In fact, when we ran the Tekton through its paces here at Sweetwater, we dropped the instrument to Eb standard tuning with no issues. Additionally, the 25.5-inch scale minimizes unwanted string buzzing and flopping. PRS Phase III locking tuners round out the Tekton’s hardware, bolstering the guitar’s tuning stability and making string changes quick and simple.
