The Univibe Clone Pros Choose

The Fulltone MDV-3 pedal is about as close as you can get to the sound of an authentic, vintage Univibe pedal. That’s because Fulltone went above and beyond to use components as close to the originals as possible, right down to cloning 1960s photocells to get the right rise and fall times. But when you plug your favorite guitar into the MDV-3 and crank up your amplifier with a bit of overdrive, all technical thoughts will quickly fade away with the pulsating, undulating modulations the Univibe was legendary for. Call Sweetwater to add the Fulltone MDV-3 to your pedalboard today.

The third generation of amazingly accurate Univibe clones

Fulltone’s efforts to make the MDV-3 an exact Univibe clone are nothing short of amazing. Pros such as Robin Trower and Peter Frampton have been using previous-generation MDV pedals with nothing but praise for them. With the MDV-3, Fulltone went even further by cloning 1960s photocells to get the right rise/fall times for this classic modulation effect. There are no op-amps in the signal path, and the MDV-3 even uses the same preamp transistor the original Univibe used.

Wide dynamic range thanks to a special power circuit

The Fulltone MDV-3 runs at a full 18+ volts. It has a unique voltage doubler circuit to boost the voltage, giving you more headroom and wider dynamic range. You get the higher-voltage operation many pros prefer while maintaining the convenience of using a standard power supply.

Who uses Fulltone?

The list of Fulltone fans reads like a who’s who of guitar heroes. Both Ron Wood and Keith Richards have used Fulltone gear in their touring rigs, as has Nigel Tufnel from the legendary British metal band Spinal Tap and Boston bad boys Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton. Punk/rockabilly mainstay Reverend Horton Heat is a Fulltone convert. Other notable Fulltone users include Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard and Heartbreaker Mike Campbell. You’re in good company with the MDV-3 on your pedalboard.

Best Univibe Clone Sweetwater sells

If you're reading this, you already know what a Deja vibe is and that it's the best. It's just a matter of whether or not you wanna shell out the $ to get it. I personally feel life is too short for amateur grade vibe tone. I have the MXR Univibe and the Nux Monterey (which is better than the MXR) but the Deja Vibe smokes them both. Quit bull corning and get you a Deja Vibe.

Works great and is exactly what I was looking for on my pedalboard. Operates smoothly and is the perfect addition to my pedalboard.

Search for the "vibe" stops here....

It doesn't get any better than this, if this is not the sound you're looking for in a Vibe then it isn't a Vibe pedal. I have no doubt this is not only "as close as possible" but refined and tweaked-in, low noise, and amazing component quality. Vibe's are a bit of a strange beast regarding the drive you hit with it and the over all lvl of gain(dist) and Vibe controls, but easy to get all those Trower, Hendrix, and Floyd tones.
I mean this is a 21st century revamp of the original but with greater ranges of speeds, fidelity, noise floor and impedance issues. Sure there are other vibes out there but nothing is really going to be "better" than the Deja.
Much less do these other builders make their own binned out photocells or hard to get parts, I doubt it, not like Fuller does. This is his flagship pedal and it is for no little reason Trower has been using the Deja since the old one just became unusable, dreadful, noisy, bad impedance and no two alike issues on the old ones much less just too **** old to worry about rigging them into a modern board. The Deja is all the good stuff, all the tones, rich, thick, pulse vibe, unbeatable in my book. Don't get suckered into one of the digital mimic things, the real photocell higher voltage circuit is just way better. I've owned and tried a bunch of Vibes and this is now my 4th version of the Deja Vibe pedal and my 2nd MDV3 as it is just the top shelf, it's just the bench mark Vibe pedal and that is that.

Lush and fun

I had been looking for a 'Vibe pedal for a while and was intrigued when I ran across this one on the Sweetwater site. I had not considered a unit with a rocker pedal before but I am simply blown away. Being able to make subtle - or dramatic - speed changes mid riff is fantastic and really adds an extra bit of swirly goodness. And the level of control makes it so much more flexible that I had hoped. The vintage/modern switch makes it easy to dial
In tone with any guitar, the chorus/vibrato option makes this a true "twofer" and the level control makes it a snap to dial in just the right amount of thump or growl. Many thanks to Todd Cotton - Superstar SE - for the assistance and fantastic conversation.

Upgrade from DejaVibe 2

AWESOME!!!!!!!! I play a lot of Trower and the DejaVibe always fits the bill. The MDV-3 is way better than version 2 which is now sitting on a shelf.
