Portable recording with Focusrite quality

Focusrite made their name by designing world-class microphone preamps, and they've put one in the compact iTrack Solo. The sound is open and detailed, and a phantom power switch lets you use condenser microphones with the iTrack Solo. So even if you're away from your studio, you'll still be able to record great-sounding takes.

Easy instrument recording

You've also got a direct instrument input on the iTrack Solo in addition to the mic preamp. That makes it easy for you to record your guitar or bass directly, and also gives you the opportunity to recording a vocal performance at the same time as an instrument performance.

Great interface at home, on the go, or both

You'll find the iTrack Solo incredibly easy to use, because Focusrite designed it for easy portable recording with your iPad. And since it's so simple and easy to use it's a great audio interface for home use too, when you're looking for no-frills simplicity that doesn't sacrifice audio quality.

A software suite makes music creation easy

The iTrack Solo includes powerful software tools that will get you making music in no time. With Ableton Live Lite 8, it's easy to create music with a Mac or PC. Novation's Bass Station is an accurate model of a legendary Novation synthesizer. The Focusrite Scarlett plug-in suite gives you a collection of software plug-ins to add effects to your music software. Plus, you get 1GB of royalty-free sample content from Loopmasters. The iTrack Solo also works with current iPad DAWs including Wave Machine Labs Auria and Steinberg Cubasis.

iTrack Solo

As a singer/songwriter, guitarist...... the iTrack Solo is a convenient and portable interface at home or on the go. It's small enough so traveling and setting up a makeshift portable recording station flows with limited space and hassle. As a guitarist recording new ideas and keeping an archive of musical exploration, I've been looking for something that could help establish that process for me. Something strongly advocated by teachers and enthusiasts. Enter the iTrack Solo!! The overall design is easy to use and sound quality is excellent. You have an illuminating circle of red or green that lights up around the volume knob while recording to establish the best volume for recording, optimization, simplicity, and a generously priced unit that can be taken anywhere with you. Fit anywhere in a small bag near your tablet or laptop. I've also needed something to record samples to send to band members, or new bandmates to prepare for gigs, and it's nice having something that sounds professional and minimizes embarrassment even if it's just among the team. Lots of potential, an asset and a basic utility for the endeavoring vocalist/musician.

itrack solo

A great little ios interface. I've been using it on a few different songs and it works really well. The guitar input seems just a tiny bit hot turned all the way down with EMG'S but you can use software to fix it no problem, if you needed a hotter signal then it's a good thing! Sound quality is excellent! XLR channel works great! Music sounds better thru the itrack solo too verses a headphone connection. Great product for the money! Only drawback is that it needs a power supply at all times.

Okay, but only 1 output control given

I think the unit is good quality, but I did not realize before I bought it that in order to record on my iMac, I must turn off the speaker monitors (or if they have a volume knob on the speakers get up or reach over and turn then down) to listen through the headphones. Otherwise, there will be feedback, or a muddy recording, etc. Then when it's time to listen to the playback through the speakers, it's of course necessary to turn them back on again. This is a considerable inconvenience, and makes the unit not practical for me. I intend to sell it used, and buy something other that allows independent listening level for the headphones and the monitors. I note that in looking at the Focusrite advertisements or information specs, this is not immediately clear, so that's the only reason I'm writing--to let others know.
