iRig Keys Pro 2 - A Portable Delight
This is a terrific instrument at a very affordable price. No batteries and no need to plug into a wall socket. Just connect to your iPhone or iPad. Boom! All cords provided. I added a sustain pedal. Play it in any/every room in your house or take it to the park, beach, mountain cabin, hotel, etc. 37 keys is fully adequate for trying out new ideas if you're a composer. Save the tune(s) to your mobile device and then, as needed, continue/edit when you're back in your studio.

Does exactly what I needed
I am a singer/songwriter/producer: guitar is my main instrument so my songs are usually guitar driven, then I do a bit of beat making and I really love adding software organs or electric pianos to my songs. I have an Akai MPK mini on my desk that I actually really like for programming beats, and then I have a controller across the studio from me with fully weighted 88 keys, which is great when I need to really *play* a keyboard but it's not easy to produce with since I don't have control over my DAW while I'm playing it.

I was looking for something basic that would help fill out my midi controller gap: I wanted enough keys that it's playable and I can do nice chords with two hands, and I wanted full sized keys so I can actually write/play/record keyboard parts and have it be fun instead of just getting the notes in, and I wanted something that's small enough to keep on my studio desk so I can use it while I'm at my DAW.

All in all, I'm really pleased and I'm grateful I was able to find something basic that does everything I need without making me pay for more. It feels very sturdy, has keys that are nice to play, and plugging it into my computer was very easy: I plugged it in, and it worked, and I was playing instruments in my DAW with it.
