Record Your Acoustic Guitar Anywhere

IK Multimedia's iRig Acoustic guitar interface is one of the easiest ways you'll find to record your steel-string acoustic guitar, nylon-string guitar, ukulele, or other acoustic instrument. The iRig Acoustic gently clips onto your guitar's soundhole with a rubberized clamp, while an MEMS microphone captures the vibrations of your guitar. Connect to your iOS or Android device with the built-in 1/8" TRRS cable. There's even a headphone output for monitoring your recordings. With the IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic interface in your guitar case's accessory pocket, you'll always be ready to record inspiration when it strikes.

IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic Guitar Interface at a Glance:
  • Record to your iPhone, iPad, or Android device
  • Capture the full sonic range and character of your guitar
  • Enhance your acoustic tone with AmpliTube Acoustic software
Record to your iPhone, iPad, or Android device

The IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic guitar interface couldn't be simpler - clip the interface to your guitar's soundhole, connect the 1/8" TRRS cable to your iOS or Android device, and you're ready to use it with AmpliTube Acoustic or virtually any other recording app. Use the 1/8" output for monitoring with headphones or to connect to a mixer or powered speaker for live performance.

Capture the full sonic range and character of your guitar

Unlike piezo or magnetic pickups, the IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic's MEMS microphone captures the actual vibrations of your guitar's top. This results in a more natural acoustic tone, with a wider dynamic range and harmonic richness. We've heard some great acoustic pickup systems here at Sweetwater, but we still agree that it's hard to beat the sound of an actual microphone on an acoustic instrument. You'll be impressed by the results you get just by clipping the iRig Acoustic and hitting record - and you can further fine-tune your tone with IK Multimedia's AmpliTube Acoustic software.

Enhance your acoustic tone with AmpliTube Acoustic Free software

With the included AmpliTube Acoustic Free app, you get three gear models and a single-track recorder to get you started.

IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic Guitar Interface Features:
  • Acoustic guitar interface for iOS and Android
  • Clear, vibrant acoustic tone captured with an MEMS (MicroElectrical-Mechanical System) microphone
  • Easy to use, simply clips to your guitar's soundhole with a rubber clamp
  • Connect to your iOS or Android device with the built-in 1/8" TRRS cable
  • Also has an 1/8" headphone output for monitoring
  • Includes AmpliTube Acoustic FREE app
Capture your acoustic guitar with the IK Multimedia iRig Acoustic interface!

Kindle Fire & EVR Pro

This device was dormant for about a year because it is terrible on my Android phone. Alas, after experimenting with various recording applications on Kindle Fire I discovered Easy Voice Recorder and bought its Pro version. The pickup is stellar, has great tone and output. Good software and device is essential to unlock Irig Acoutic's potential, especially on Android. I finally figured it out to record musical sketches on guitar, uke, mando, charango, laud, etc., on-the-fly, then transfer the files to Reason or ' Tools on my workstation to create songs.

Great pickup with iphone

I love this thing. Makes my guitar sound absolutely beautiful. Works great with iPhone and iPad mini. Opens a new world of digital effects and embellishments to turn a handful of devices into a sound studio. Amplitube is beautifully done but is cash driven requiring many in app purchases to do the more complicated editing etc. Looper is super (sorry couldn't resist) easy way to build your repertoire and accompany yourself. Nice way to learn a new song or practice trchnique by slowing then speeding up tempo. Does not work well with an amp however. Terrible feedback. Stick to headphones and Apple.

limited use on Android

As of this writing in early 2016 Android has latency issues with its trrs connection, thus renders the iRig acoustic pickup unworkable for live processing. Consequently, Amplitube acoustic is unavailable for Android. Similar apps, such as AndRig, illustrates the latency snafu with this pickup, which is for future Android. It might be suitable for current Apple products. Meanwhile, iRig recording for Android puts this pickup to casual use. It's an analog connection & there is some hiss & occasional stutter. It's mainly for creating song blueprints & ideas on-the-fly since it's a one-track app. Very limited use indeed. Nevertheless, files can be exported to wav for daw incorporation. Under proper circumstances takes can be stutter-free with minimal hiss. The pickup seems to be good quality & sonically veracious. The design is innovative & easily attaches & detaches on guitars. It does not mount on instruments with fretboards flush with the body & small soundholes, such as the Seagull Merlin & vintage ukes. It fits in fat f-holes. Alas, a handy pickup for the future, Android its only caveat.

The Plastic-ness of it all!

As with most IKM products, I view them slightly more than just toys. This product is a flimsy produced item that makes me constantly mindful of not somehow breaking the skinny cable. I found it to be a less localized pickup, rather, a more thin-sounding, noisy one. I know this going in when buying IKM products but keep optimistic that they'll (maybe someday) up their game in building durable products. As for their Apps...this is where it gets nuts for me. I have the Fender Collection, Amplitube 4 Deluxe and various other of their apps but it gets maddening when you pull up a preset only to find out that you're missing "that one" component that you need and therefore have to buy separately on their website! It also seems they re-arrange (or repackage) their bundles that keeps you constantly incomplete. Granted, there are plenty of presets, etc. to keep you happy but just know there is other guitar-amp software that, once you buy them, (NI Gtr Rig / Waves GTR 3.5) you won't have to fiddle with being nickel & dimed along the way.

irig acoustic

This system will not work on android , IK multimedia IOS only. I do not have an ipad/iphone. Do not buy this if you do not an apple device.

Sweetwater Advice

iRig Acoustic

With an iPad Air as my mobile device of choice, I tuned up through AmpliTube Acoustic's tuner function and went through the app's calibration check. In no time at all, I was dialing in the EQ and flavoring my tone with a bit of reverb. The sound I produced through the iRig Acoustic and its partner app was impressive for such a small and simple setup....
