From Three-dimensional Spring Ambience to Splashing Surf Surges

If you're a fan of classic American-voiced spring reverb, then you'll fall head over heels for the Dr. Z Z-Verb. Its studio-grade reverberation is sure to give your amp a serious kick in the pants. This standalone reverb tank includes Dwell, Mix, and Tone controls and makes a fine addition to any guitar amplifier's effects loop. It also performs admirably in front of a clean-sounding amp. The Z-Verb includes a ground lift and comes with an on/off footswitch. This handwired unit delivers everything from three-dimensional spring ambience to dripping, splashing surf surges. It's a must-have for tube-driven spring reverb aficionados.

Simple controls unleash a wide range of tonal textures

Thanks to the Z-Verb's simple controls, you'll be able to dial in a range of sounds — this ain't a one-trick pony! Its Dwell control adjusts the decay of the reverb from subtle to surging. Mix controls your wet-to-dry ratio, allowing deep, lush reverbs that won't mask your playing. Tone gives you complete command over the final texture of your reverb. The guitarists here at Sweetwater also appreciate the Z-Verb's included on/off footswitch.

Dr. Z Z-Verb Tube Reverb Head Features:

  • Studio-grade reverberation in an amp-head-sized enclosure
  • Dwell control adjusts the decay of the reverb from subtle to surging
  • Mix controls your wet-to-dry ratio for deep, lush reverbs that won't mask your playing

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items

Reviews

The Best Tube Reverb
This unit is remarkable and, for many reasons, I think it's the best overall stand-alone tube reverb currently being sold. Like the Benson Tall Bird, this unit uses a 9" tank rather than a Fender style 16" tank, but the 9" tank is actually better for guitar (less boingy). It's dead quiet, and the mix and dwell knobs go way beyond standard reverb sounds into a complete wash effect. It also has a useful tone knob, which is missing from many competing units, and it looks much better in person due to the 3 circle cutouts that let the light through. The ground switch helps as well, whereas the Benson slightly hums in my room setup. Built like a tank, and definitely a 5 star product.

Real Reverb
Reverb is the only effect I like. Perhaps a bit of compression and distortion at times. I own 6 reverb pedals and thought they sounded great, until I started researching full tube driven reverb tanks. To my knowledge Fender was the only manufacturer of reverb tanks and they no longer make them. Used ones are available and they are pricy. In addition, their age often means new tubes and other components. Then I read about the Dr. Z Z- verb tube reverb tanks. The price is high which is a turnoff, but the reviews of this unit make it highly desirable and sought after. So I bought one from Sweetwater and fell in love with it right away. The reverb is incredibly beautiful and makes a reverb pedal obsolete. Honestly, this unit has way more reverb than I will ever need, and at low settings it sounds amazing. Plus the tone control is a nice touch, something not available on the old Fender reverb tanks. Dr. Z filled a niche with this unit that no one else has bothered to do. If you're serious about authentic reverb for your guitar this is the best way to go.

Well Worth It
I purchased the Z Verb to run it in front of my Z Wreck and MAZ 18 and the results were very satisfying. What blew my mind was running this through the effects loop of my Marshall Jubilee Reissue…just amazing. It's a splurge for sure, but to have a reverb unit that works great with everything translates to some serious bang for the buck.
Super Dripping Reverb !
I always wanted a vintage Fender Reverb Tank, but the problem is finding one that doesn't need extensive work. I did some research and read the reviews about the Dr. Z-Verb and decided to go for it and I am happy I did. This is the best Reverb unit I have ever played through. It is well made, sounds fantastic and it looks great with the rest of my gear. I will never go back to a reverb pedal again, not after playing through this Dr.Z-Verb. As always, special thanks to my Sweetwater Guru Alden Debe who is always helpful.

I have the 1960s reverb sound in my bones...
If you love Jorma Kaukonen's final guitar solo to Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody To Love", then you are a reverb lover like myself. This Dr. Z reverb unit is the best thing out there to duplicate that sound - I promise!
Music background: Been playing in bands since the mid 1960s - can't ever quit :-)
