Z-Noise Cleans Your Audio of Noise with Pinpoint Accuracy!

You know how good the Waves plug-ins are. Chances are good that you own one or more Waves products. Now the company is tackling the toughest problem in the audio world: Extraneous noise. Using a brand new proprietary algorithm, Z-Noise quickly cleans up any background noise from your recordings without nasty artifacts or compromising the quality of your audio. Z-Noise runs in native mode on Mac or Windows systems. Leaves your audio squeaky clean.

Waves Z-Noise Native Features at a Glance:
  • Brand new proprietary algorithm with real-time operation
  • Accurate dynamic noise profiling
  • Better high frequency resolution and low frequency preservation
  • Advanced transient preservation
Brand new proprietary algorithm with real-time operation

Waves X-Noise plug-in was highly acclaimed for its capabilities, but Z-Noise utilizes a newer, more advanced, more "musical" proprietary algorithm with an exclusive "Extract" mode which can create a noise profile from sources that contains audio or in Adaptive mode. Dynamic noise profiling even produces superb results when reducing noise that changes over time. Real-time operation means you can tweak parameters and hear the changes as you make them.

Accurate dynamic noise profiling

Waves Z-Noise lets you shape your noise profile with pinpoint accuracy, utilizing a familiar five-band EQ interface with real-time operation. You can monitor the entire audio output or just hear the isolated noise being removed. There are plenty of noise profile shaping tools that can zero-in on tape hiss, ground hum and even complex computer noise. With true broadband processing, you can eliminate hiss and rumble simultaneously

Better high frequency resolution and low-frequency preservation

Other noise reduction systems are limited by traditional FFT band split modes, which divide your audio into equally spaced bands and can result in insufficient time resolution in the low frequencies. Z-Noise changes that and preserves all the high and low frequency information in your audio. No more "smeared" audio imaging that lacks high-end crispness and low-end clarity.

Advanced transient preservation

Using innovative transient preservation and exclusive extractive/adaptive dynamic noise detection, Z-Noise lets you remove noise without diminishing the power and overall dynamic punch of your original recording. Z-Noise even lets you choose between increased frequency resolution, time resolution or both.

Waves Z-Noise Features:
  • New, more "musical" algorithm
  • Dynamic noise profiling with 5-band EQ interface
  • Extract mode creates noise profile from any audio
  • Real-time operation lets you hear changes as you make them
  • Preserves low frequency resolution
  • Delivers improved high frequency detail
  • Reduced time domain sensitivity for less "smear"
  • True broadband processing
  • Quickly eliminates hiss, hum or rumble
  • Lets you choose between increased frequency or time resolution
Waves takes noise reduction to a new level of sophistication!

amazing solution for amp hiss

If you have a noisy amp that won't stop hissing or just general room noise in the way of instrument tracks, this is the only solution you'll need. Loop a section of the track where it's only noise and click the learn button- let it loop a few times then disable the learn function. Set detection to 25-30, use the toggle on the bottom right to switch to "difference" then raise the threshold until you hear only noise and no playing. Done! I tried expensive noise gates and various software solutions and this $ plugin was the real key.

Great!
Anyone that's recording through virtual amp sims is gonna need something like this, you need to run it through your clean signal of your guitar track before you run it through distortion.
Music background: Pro Tools
Awesome for amp hiss
This plugin is amazing at getting rid of room noise, air conditioning rumble, and all sorts of amp noise like hissing, humming, and buzzing. Turn the reduction up to 30-40, set the monitor to difference, and then raise the threshold until you only hear the "noise" and none of your playing. You can lower the threshold and reduction variables and then add NS-1 after Z-Noise in the FX chain to chip away at the noise more subtly and let two plugins share the load, which can result in less noise and fewer artifacts.

4/5 stars because it seems to have trouble with heavy distorted tones, like those from an MT2 or a high gain tube amp.

Waves Z noise plug in
Very helpful tool when you need your noise floor as low as you can get it at home. Be careful though, you must set this plug in up correctly to utilize its functions. I would suggest viewing some short videos about it, found on youtube.
Once you master how it works it becomes very easy to use.
Z-Noise gets the job done
This plug-in is handy to have for a variety of tasks that can literally save a project. It surely defies the conventional wisdom that the only way to fix a bad recording is record it again properly. The adaptive wave form technology is very slick and has worked well on every problem I've needed it for. If you have a mixed track that you need to clean up this plug-in can do some of that too. I was able to simply and effectively quell an accordion that was drowning out an acoustic guitar and piano in an audio track for a consumer grade video camera recording. While it doesn't always perform at the "miracle" level, it has drastically improved every one of the recordings I've used it on. I haven't tried any of it's rivals, such as the Izotope Rx, so I can't draw a comparison but I can assure prospective buyers that this one works very well. So if your are looking for a plug-in that will assist you in removing unwanted noise and sounds from a recording this one will go a long way to fulfilling that need.

Since the early days of DAW software, Waves has been a dominating force in music and audio production. For those of us here at Sweetwater who've been recording since the industry switched over to computer-based studios, it's impossible to imagine sessions without L series Ultramaximizers, MaxxBass, and other staples. Since then, we've been impressed every time Waves has brought top producers such as Jack Joseph Puig and Chris Lord-Alge to Sweetwater to show off their next cutting-edge creations, and Waves is constantly adding new and innovative plug-ins to their catalog. And with cool new gear such as their SoundGrid series, Sweetwater engineers have discovered just how easy it is to use Waves plug-ins live.
