Mix From Anywhere in the House

Built-in Wi-Fi and tablet integration for unprecedented mixing mobility

Behringer's XR16 gives you the ultimate in mixing mobility. Imagine always being able to mix from the most advantageous spot in the house! The XR16 acknowledges the reality of modern live mixing — that you don't want to be tied down to a fixed front-of-house mix location. Integrated Wi-Fi gives you remote control over the mixer's functions from your tablet or laptop without needing to set up and configure an external router. Now you can focus on your mix, moving around the venue to experience what your audience is hearing in the back of the auditorium. Tweak the mix from the balcony. Adjust the monitors from the performers' perspective. This is live mixing the way it should be — natural and intuitive. The result will be better-sounding shows!

  • Mix from anywhere in the venue
  • Instant wireless for your tablet or laptop
  • Complete remote control over mix functions
  • No need to set up and configure an external router

You're Connected

Ethernet port gives you networking options

The XR16's built-in Wi-Fi has you covered for most venues, but if you've got big stadium gigs booked, you'll be glad to know that you can easily integrate the XR16 into a larger setup using its Ethernet port to connect to a wired network or a monster router.

  • Ethernet port for networking options
  • Connect to a wired network
  • Set up an industrial router

Great-sounding Mixes Start Here

Pristine preamps, ultra-wide dynamic range, and more

With eight Midas-designed mic preamps and 40-bit floating-point DSP that delivers virtually unlimited dynamic range with no internal overload and vanishingly low latency, the XR16 delivers impeccable sound quality — the same as Behringer's acclaimed X32 digital mixer. The XR16's preamps are fully gain-programmable and remote-controllable from your iOS or Android tablet, for nearly unlimited flexibility in a live show situation. Because applications are loaded to the specific device, you can, for instance, prepare your channel layout offline while sitting in the tour bus before a show.

  • Acclaimed X32 technology for impeccable sound quality
  • Fully gain-programmable, remote-controllable preamps
  • Applications loaded to specific device
  • Facilitates offline pre-production

Comprehensive Processing and Routing

Features that will make you a sound-mixing hero

With so many variables beyond a mixer's control, Sweetwater knows just how challenging mixing a live show can be. That's why Behringer designed the XR16 with smart features that can make you a sound-mixing hero. The XR16's channels are fully loaded, with per-channel low-cut filters, gates, full dynamics (including compression, limiting, expansion, ducking, sidechaining, and more) fully parametric 4-band EQ, and routing to the four Aux outputs. When it comes to EQ, the XR16 lets you analyze the frequency content of your tracks, courtesy of its 100-band Real Time Analyzer, built into every input channel and then sculpt them with the bus equalizer. With visual feedback built right into the control app, you can see exactly what you need to do, and make fast, surgical adjustments to frequencies that need boost or cut.

  • Smart features make mixing easier
  • Extensive per-channel processing
  • 100-band Real Time Analyzer
  • Visual feedback simplifies EQ

Studio-quality Effects

Virtual FX Rack with four true-stereo multi-effects processors

The XR16 has an entire arsenal of effects under the hood. The XR16's virtual FX Rack gives you four true-stereo (8 mono) multi-effects processors, including delay, chorus, and dynamics. This engine is beefy enough to simultaneously run high-quality, true-stereo reverbs and 31-band EQ, without the need for additional hardware. Select any combination of high-end simulations of classic studio reverbs such as the Lexicon 480L and PCM70, the EMT250 or Quantec QRS. The XR16's onboard processing means your computer won't be tasked with additional heavy lifting during a mixdown session with numerous plug-ins.

  • Four stereo multi-effects processors
  • Simulations of legendary studio reverbs
  • Robust FX engine
  • Lightens the load on your computer

XR16

Yes it very good like a lot of people said but it drive me crazy because no matter how closed I have my ipad to the unit it still drop signal all the time I might have a good mix for 5 mins and it drop again. I have it for about 6 months. I used it for live band and DJ plus KJ so I love this mixer so much that I try to figure it out and I go look on you tube how to used external Router to help and I found it on Berringer own video on you tube. Wow the different is 10 time faster and no drop at all I try it doing mix by turn off ipad and turn back on boom no drop and I restart the ipad and wait for it to come back boom no problem while the music still playing like noting ever happen. and the external router that I used is Linksys AC1200+ I got it from best buy for about $80. And when you connect switch it from wifi to ethernet and connect to ethernet on the back of the Router make sure do not plug it to internet port. and turn it on. For your ipad just turn on and you will find the wifi for Linksys03851 and used the password that come with the Router to conect to it turn on your XR16 apps and you will see how fast it connect compare to just the wifi from the unit alone.love it

Impressive!

I bought this mixer back in September, but I've been waiting until I was comfortable enough with the ins and outs of how it works in order to write a review. Please, study how the app works before being discouraged (which I've seen happen a lot in forums) by how it performs. Behringer has a great Youtube channel with video tutorials on how to get the most out of your XR's and the X Air apps. Practice and patience will payoff. I have to say, it is absolutely amazing. I've used it for recording (USB 2 Stereo Channel only, on the XR12 and XR16) demos and live performances. It has performed flawlessly with a 7 piece band or a singer with a guitar, even with backing tracks and feeds to our in ear monitors. It fits perfectly inside a shallow case. Just set it up in there and leave it. The preamps are amazing, the effects are beautiful, the options and capabilities are superb. So, if you're looking for a great mixer with awesome sound and technology, get this one; or any of the XR series for that matter. Cheers!

Xr 16 x air

We used it the first time last week at a church homecoming. It was great not having to carry a mighty gigrig, run a snake and do all thenother extra setup chores that those items require. Sound was great and my back was even better. Love it!!!

X Air 16

Excellent concept and works like a dream. This unit was a little different because you must use a tablet or computer or phone to operate . But Everyone has a phone and the app is easily available . Easy to learn ,intuitive interface. Downside is the manual is poorly written and the video tutorials on You tube are the best way to learn anything you have trouble with. Buy this unit you wont be disappointed . Excellent sound .

I Was Skeptical, But I Did It!

As most of you that have purchased Behringer products in the past would agree, I was very skeptical about purchasing any more. But I am very pleasantly surprised by this one. First, it is almost exactly what I am after: A remote controlled mixer head with all the necessary DSP on board; small in size, light in weight, and enough inputs for our band. I had read many reviews on WiFi connection dropping issues with several manufacturers, so, since I run sound from my keyboard position, I have decided to connect to my laptop with an ethernet cable (and eventually a 24" to 27" touchscreen) and use the WiFi for sound checks. Secondly, I am pleasantly surprised by the preamps' sound. I am also surprised at the level of control over each channel, both inputs and outputs, that the software gives you, especially at this price point. (But then, that's Behringer's "claim to fame", yes?) There are a few things I would liked to have found out straight from Behringer before purchasing this, because I couldn't find them anywhere in the literature, so here they are for you, and I hope this helps: 1) Can the control surface on PC be changed in size for different screen sizes? YES! Choices are in the upper right portion of the screen when the X Air app is running. 2) Since they are little vague on where the app is, for app newbies like me, it was a little treasure hunt! Plus, if using FireFox to download your app, and you have moderate to heavy security on, you may need to either turn security down (not recommended!) or download the app with Chrome, which doesn't seem to have as much problem with downloading "from an Untrusted Site..." like FireFox does. It appears to have to do with the way Behringer's site is labeled. So do yourself a BIG favor if you're interested in this or the 12 or 18 channel units: Download the app for whatever controller you're using, iPad, Android, or PC (be sure to choose V1.2 for PC), and simply play with it, because it offers OFFLINE setup! You don't need to be hooked up to one to try it! Yes, since the interface is for all the X Air units, you will see some features that you won't have on the 16 or 12, (such as 6 aux sends, etc.), but you can get an excellent feel for, and even save your setups for when you decide to purchase!Another point, if you don't already know it: When downloading the app, open the PDF that's in there, too and READ IT! Lots of good explanations to many questions in there, too! I have just purchased mine but I put 5 solid hours on it last night (this morning!!) and absolutely NO issues of any kind! No, I wasn't using the WiFi connection, but everything else is rock solid so far. Also, the app is very easy to simply start clicking and exploring. Very intuitive for the experienced, and don't forget the YouTube videos from Behringer for everyone. LOTS of good tips in there. Hint: Watch the videos directly from Behringer first, then go to the other folks, you'll get more out of them, then.Bottom line: Highly recommended (so far!). This is clearly where mixing is headed!
