Full-featured Effects Loop for Your Pedalboard

The Xotic X-Blender pedal works much like the Aux Send/Return on a mixing console, providing you with wet/dry mixing on the fly. And by feeding your effects with your guitar's direct signal, X-Blender also preserves your tone's integrity. When you use X-Blender, you'll experience your guitar's tone as it was meant to be heard, without the nasty artifacts that are often created by a series of effects pedals. Does your stompbox chain suffer from signal deterioration? The guitarists at Sweetwater have found that X-Blender effectively shields you from narrowing dynamic range and multiple filtering, resulting in the ultra-clear signal and phenomenal tone you demand!

X-Blender operates in both Series and Parallel modes. Series mode is a simple effects loop, and all of X-Blender's controls are disabled. This mode is true bypass, with no buffering. Parallel mode introduces a buffer into your signal. In this mode, you can use the pedal's Dry/Wet knob to control the mixture of dry signal and affected signal. A 2-band EQ and Volume control tailor your affected signal to taste. A Boost switch provides a +6dB boost. A Phase Invert switch flips your signal's polarity - great for correcting the unwanted side effects that are often created by vintage-type wah or booster devices. Maximize your tone with the Xotic X-Blender pedal!

Xotic: Boutique pedals, preamps, and more

Xotic was born in a small garage in Southern California in 1996 and quickly became known for high-quality, boutique bass guitars and bass preamps. These days, they've expanded the pedal line, crafting stompboxes that are played by some of the finest guitarists in the business. Their acclaimed AC Booster, RC Booster, and BB Preamp pedals remain some of their most popular pedals.

Almost like adding an effects loop to your amp

This did EXACTLY what I was hoping it would do.
If you run a reverb pedal before a clean guitar amp it sounds great. But, as soon as you set the amp to dirty the reverb is too strong and washes out. No matter how low you set the mix knob it still has too much reverb.
This pedal allows much better control of the mix of wet/dry. I can now finally use my reverbs in front of my high-gain amps without effects loops.
This is also a well made pedal and has a nice boost and eq feature. I would bet almost anyone could find a use for this pedal. Highly recommended.

FANTASTIC pedal!

I had a very specific purpose in mind when I bought the pedal. I wanted to 'dial down' my EVH Phase 90 to get the more subtle sweep Eddie gets on his solos. This worked PERFECTLY for that. What's nice is you can do the True Bypass and use your effect(s) as normal, or, when I want the subtle EVH phase thing, I adjust the dry/wet knob, have the blend button pushed, and then click on the true bypass switch to engage it when I need it. The added bonus was the boost you can get and ability to control the volume boost. While I have a clean boost that works great (RC Booster), when I have everything 'gained out' I didn't have a good way to instantly get a boost for solos. Well, this can do that wonderfully. I know it says only a 6 dB boost, but it sounds a heck of a lot louder than that. The only negative I can say is that when I put a bunch of pedals (4+) through it together, it didn't sound the same at all (it didn't sound good). Therefore, I went back to just the EVH Phase 90 through it. I think it's a great pedal and now that I have it, I wouldn't want to be without it.

This Pedal Solved My Delay's Bad Bypass Tone

I love the delay sounds of my TC Nova Delay but, when bypassed, the tone sounded a little "gutted". In looking for a solution, I purchased the Xotic X-Blender. This pedal allows your dry signal to always be present while the wet signal is layered over it. It's basically a 1 channel mixer with an Aux bus. A great feature about this pedal (aside from the tone controls) is the efx phase switch. This allowed me to put the delay tone in phase with my dry signal. You can also do some cool things with the Blend On/Off switch as well. Xotic is a great company. I highly recommend this pedal to solve any bypass issues.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?

Nathaniel DeRusha

As a touring bass player who is addicted to pedals, I only want the ones that keep the integrity of my tone. From the moment I plugged my Foderabass into the Xotic X-Blender, I knew that I had found the tone-saving solution a controllable external FX loop should be. Not only does it sound great, it's built like a tank and has never left my pedal board no matter how many times I’ve made changes to my setup over the last 10 years.
