The "Ferrari" Just Got Better

Access somehow managed to improve on the revered Virus TI system, taking the "Ferrari" to the next level of performance - and TI computer integration. With a lighter, redesigned enclosure, a bolstered effects section, and an enhanced Virus Control 3.0 plug-in - plus all the staples that made the Virus the famous powerhouse - the Virus TI2 Desktop is truly the culmination of Access's 12-year triathlon of sound research, distillation of user input, and their simple desire to create an exceptional instrument.

Robust effects section, with new TI2 effects

The new Access Virus TI2 Desktop features an even more powerful effects section, bringing studio-favorite effects to the live performance realm. In addition to phaser, chorus/flanger, ring modulator/shifter, EQ, and a global vocoder, onboard are a new Tape Delay effect, a Frequency Shifter, and new Distortions. There's also a new Character effect, which lets you shape the timbre of the Virus's sound and its fit in the mix, using Analog Boost, Vintage 1/2/3, Pad Opener, Lead Enhancer, Bass Enhancer, or Stereo Widener "Characters."

Total Integration - enhanced Virus Control 5 plug-in

The TI in the Virus TI2 Desktop stands for Total Integration with your DAW - and Access has heightened that integration, with the Access Virus TI2 line. With the new Virus Control 5 plug-in, you have enhanced control over your Virus TI2, right inside your DAW. There's also an even more robust presets manager, so you can organize, sort, search, and tweak - as quickly as you want to work.

3 main oscillators and one suboscillator per voice

The Access Virus TI2 Desktop features three main oscillators and one sub-oscillator per voice. Each main oscillator can be made up of various oscillator types, including Hyper Saw (a multi saw-tooth oscillator with up to 9 stacked oscillators, 9 sub oscillators, and a sync oscillator at the same time), Classic Virtual Analog oscillators (saw, variable pulse, sine, triangle, 62 spectral waves with several FM modes), Graintable, Wavetable (with 100 multi-index wavetables), and Format oscillators

Two fully independent filters and 2-dimensional modulation matrix

You can use two fully independent filters with the Access Virus TI2 Desktop - lowpass, highpass, bandpass, and bandstop) while using an optional saturation module between both filter blocks. The saturation module can add one of several distortions and lo-fi effects, or an additional low/highpass filter. There's also optional self-resonating Moog cascade filter simulation, with circuit overload and 1-4 poles. What's more, the Access Virus TI2 Desktop offers a 2-dimensional modulation matrix, with 6 slots (1 source and 3 modulation targets each), and you can modulate parameters in real-time.

Each patch contains its own arpeggiator pattern

Every patch onboard the Access Virus TI2 keyboard features its own arpeggiator pattern with 32 programmable steps (length and velocity can be adjusted per step) and a global control for swing/shuffle timing and for note lengths. You can control all of this using the modulation matrix.

Modern Classic

If you're looking for that electro house sound similar to Deadmau5 this is pretty much it. Goto synth for plucky sounds, pads, arps, and dance basses. This is by far the easiest and most inspring synth I've ever used. It just has that three dimensional shiny Virus sound!

This synth doesn't sound like software.

This is one sick puppy, indeed.I was on the fence for the longest, but I finally made the plunge a few months ago.I wanted to step up the game and gradute from soft synths to hardware.I'm now glad I did, sure the purchase stung a bit,but it has stepped up my game with Ableton Live to a new Realm,I never would've thought was possible. Well, alot of people on the fourms say the Virus sounds like software, hahahaha. This is a porky pie,and when they say that it makes you wonder about their music credentials,my take:bedroom dweller envy. They're the experts, but they always fale to recomend a piece of software that out does the Virus hahaha, like I said pure envy. The Virus doesn't sound better than analog, just different.Don't get me wroung,it can come close to the analog sound, but thats not what it was desinged to do.The Virus is like a mocking bird, you see,and it mocks everything else, quite well.I can pretty much emulate anything in the synth World, and it does it quite well.Jexus on youtube, does a wonderful improv/80s balad with the Virus synth, you should check it out.My final conclusion on analog:the Virus sounds like it's in the middle of digital and analog domain land. This is because of it's onboard effects.Once you get the hang of it,you can get very close to analog.Besides, the Virus sounds better than analog IMHO.Usually it's the other way around with a VA Synth, but this isn't the case with the Virus.Only an analog purist would be offended by the Virus and feel threatened.Oh,the CD vs Vinyl argument lol.Well,it's the same fight. I'd say the Virus is a great Workstaion to start with.It has uses on every genre of music, and like I said before does any emulation very well.I decided to add a Slim Phatty to tag along with the Virus, and it's been a match made in heaven, because they adore each other. The set up was easy:install the disc, plug in the Virus to usb,and find the Virus in your Ableton Live VST folder. The Virus is the only synth that acts like a software synth. The Virus is total daw intergration, unlike any other, because it uses it's onboard dsp,so it doesn't drain your computers resorces. This comes in handy if you use daw effects that rely on your pc for power.I added a UAD solo 1 card,to give me just a tad bit more overhead, with my massive ammount of plug ins. Sweetwater, was the place to buy the Virus.I recived expert help and customer support. Also they gave me an extension on my factory warranty by one year. They will fix my Virus for an additional year, after the factory warranty goes out.The Virus is built like a tank, but that extra perk added a peace of mind to my purchase. If you're looking for the best sounding Synth to make music,by the Virus from Sweetwater.I love helping great companys grow.

One of the best purchases I've made

This thing is absolutely limitless. It comes packed with a large array of presets to allow quick familiarity, but that's just the beginning. It's beyond expansive. The sound quality is superb and easily sits pretty well in many mixes simply as is. I never find myself battling with it.What really blew me away though is how responsive Access is to its clientele. I can honestly say this has been one of the best purchases I've made.

Sweetwater Advice

Carson McClain

The Access Virus TI2 Desktop has such high quality, intense sounds, they'll shake the ground you walk on. Soon, the word "VIRUS" will dominate your every thought and dream. Never before has a synthesizer brought such dark evil and heavenly bliss to your sonic palette. It's time to seriously invest in your sound. Access Virus is the 8th wonder of the world it is capable of destroying. The sooner you get one in your studio, the sooner you will realize this is the only synth you need.

Mike Hammond
