Bold and Blooming Dirt Tones — Courtesy of Lari Basilio

Purpose-built for Brazilian 6-string virtuoso Lari Basilio, the JHS Violet delivers a bouquet of ultra-versatile boutique dirty tones to explore. Primed for superior sonic versatility, this pedal is equipped with a unique control section that places standard Treble and Bass controls after the distortion circuit, while the powerful midrange circuit shapes your signal before it kicks into overdrive. The result? The ability to sculpt your sound from biting, bluesy overdrive to pummeling metal-ready distortion with the tweak of a few knobs. And while the Violet makes for a top-class do-it-all dirtbox, this pedal’s ability to seamlessly blend and stack with the rest of your overdrive, distortion, and fuzz pedals allows it to effortlessly slot into any pedalboard setup. Capable of capturing hundreds of unique distortion and overdrive tones, the JHS Violet Lari Basilio signature pedal is a must-have for any dirt-obsessed guitarist’s stompbox arsenal.

Designed in collaboration with Lari Basilio

Lari Basilio is a true guitarist’s guitarist. Yes, she’s more than capable of shredding with the best of them, but her natural ear for melodic phrasing is arguably what makes her 6-string style so unique. With such a wide-ranging skill set, it was imperative for Josh Scott and the crew at JHS to deliver a distortion pedal with superior sonic flexibility, and they’ve done just that with the JHS Violet Lari Basilio signature distortion pedal. In fact, JHS tells Sweetwater that stomping on the Violet is akin to “adding a new and ultra-flexible distortion channel to your favorite clean amplifier.”

Powerful and precise equalization

The JHS Violet comes equipped with a distinctive equalization section, placing elements before and after the distortion circuit. Boosting and cutting the treble and bass in your signal is a familiar task, with these two controls placed after the distortion circuit. However, the Violet’s midrange section enters the picture before your signal begins to saturate, and it also gives you the power to target which midrange frequencies are boosted or cut using the Mid Freq control. These seemingly minor changes allow the Violet to bloom with a seriously flexible range of dirty tones. It’s equally at home dishing out classic mid-forward overdrive tones as it is residing in ultra-scooped modern metal territory.

JHS Violet Features:

  • An exceptionally versatile do-it-all overdrive and distortion pedal
  • Designed in collaboration between Josh Scott and Brazilian 6-string virtuoso Lari Basilio
  • Distinctive 3-band EQ places the midrange controls before the distortion circuit, while the Bass and Treble knobs are placed after your signal saturates
  • Powerful midrange section allows you to precisely home in on which frequencies to boost or scoop
  • Covers a massive range of dirty tones, from classic midrange-rich overdrive bite to scooped and searing modern metal tones
  • Seamlessly stacks with your favorite fuzz, overdrive, and distortion pedals
  • Silent soft-touch switching and buffered bypass construction

Grrrrrr 8
Honestly, my go 2 gain, in the wormhole of pedals that's on the market, and might I say good luck because I spent many of nights watching videos, literally one after the other and unless your a millionaire you could be dissatisfied with your purchase I am that guy. I never owned a jhs pedal as in this world you can be be sucked in by fancy advertising by big brand names but jhs pedal came up in a short and started to research it beyond the look this is the pedal jve been looking 4 really, it that good need a noise suppressor but what gain pedal doesn't, one last thing Josh Scott in my opinion seems to be a great human being and beyond passionate in what he does why wouldn't you buy this pedal anyway my 2 centz

I kinda wanna buy it again!
This pedal is so versatile! Seriously, the range of tones you can get out of this pedal are so great that I kind of want to buy another one so I can have one set to low gain and have the other set to high gain. It also stacks flawlessly with the JHS Morning Glory. This pedal has a permanent spot on my board for sure!
One of the best in my board!
I have used several JHS pedals over the years and have some great boost/OD/Fuzz pedals on my board. After listening to Lari and Josh talk about their collaboration and hearing Lari do her thing with the pedal I decided to purchase the Violet (in black, which I dig more than the purple - horses for courses). I'm using a Tonex these days, mostly with various awesome Amalgam Audio amp captures. The Violet does a great job producing pleasing boost and overdriven tones depending on what you need. I've got a JHS Boost on the board (see attached pic) so I'm using the Violet for more overdriven tones. I like the Mid Freq controls - you can dial in some great overdrive tones that cut through. There's no MIDI or Presets so setting different tones is old school. Lari has two Violets on her board - one for low gain/boost and one for heavy overdrive. Since I have other pedals that can do low gain/boost, I only need one Violet. I should mention the Violet is built well - solid as a tank with nobs that are easy to grab and turn and a quiet switch, not to mention buffered bypass. If you are looking for a versatile Boost/Low Gain/High Pedal that can nearly do it all and also works well stacked with other OD/Fuzz pedals, I recommended checking out the Violet. At the time of writing they selling lot hotcakes which is not surprising. Kudos as always to my longtime SE Mike Picotte who, though receiving a big (and well deserved) promotion that doesn't lend a lot of time to sale's duties, still finds the time to deliver the good stuff to his customer going on 20 years.

Great Distortion/Drive !
JHS , great stuff ! I kept hearing Lari on some feeds and saw she was using this and watched the JHS video on it . The design is something I felt was a great idea how it's layed out where the mids push before the distortion . It was exactly what I was looking for !
Most Versatile Overdrive/Distortion Pedal There Is
I have tried so many overdrives and distortions with mixed results. Many distortions sound too thin or fizzy which I am not a fan of and most overdrives I have used only sound good stacked with other overdrives. That's nice to find good stacked sounds, but I have been frustrated with not finding a pedal that can stand alone as a great distortion. The JHS violet masterfully allows tone shaping to give fullness to your distortion or you can lower the gain to have an elite sounding overdrive. I have seen many comments saying this thing is so good you need 2 of them, one to dial in the perfect overdrive and one for the perfect distortion. JHS please make a double barrel violet in the future and I will never need another OD/distortion pedal.
