Two channels and lots of flexibility

With two channels of simultaneous recording capability, the Tascam UH-7000l is perfect for singer/songwriters looking to create their demo or document song ideas. Both channels offer phantom power, so you can use condenser microphones with no problem. In addition to analog XLR and TRS inputs, the unit also sports digital XLR I/O that supports AES/EBU and SP/DIF. Main analog outs are XLR. The UH-7000l will even stream four channels of audio to and from your computer via USB. You get low-latency monitoring through the DSP mixer, which can be switched between multitrack and stereo mix modes. The UH-7000l has a headphone output with separate level control, so you can mix, edit, and listen back to your recordings.

HDIA mic preamps capture detailed nuances

The Tascam UH-7000l employs a High Definition Instrumentation Architecture (HDIA) mic preamp design that delivers pristine audio with vanishingly low noise. For these preamps, Tascam engaged in repeated listening tests in order to ensure the highest performance in both numerical ratings and subjective audio quality. The instrumentation method is quite parts and labor intensive (and therefore rarely used these days in audio equipment design). Boasting a circuit used not only for pro audio gear but also in high-end measurement devices, the UH-7000 can capture the finest expressive nuances of your musical performances.

Superior components deliver excellent audio

For the UH-7000l, Tascam paid particular attention to parts selection, as evidenced by the presence of Burr-Brown converters, thin-film metal resistors, a precision TCXO clock generator, and film capacitors for improved noise performance. The analog audio input circuit was designed with a priority of low noise and maximum audio quality. Key components only made the grade after numerous critical listening tests. The results of this meticulous attention to detail are a solid pro audio product you can feel good about putting to work in your studio. But then, you'd expect nothing less from Tascam.

Great Interface

I have owned a Mackie Onyx Blackjack (great preamps and 2 channel unit for 99,) Apogee Duet( Great Converters, Pro Sound, Didn't like preamps). Audient id14( Coming from the Duet, this just didn't do it for me. Overall quality may be better than the Blackjack). Now enter the UH-7000. I actually bought the audient id14 over this one for the rave reviews about the preamps and sound. Anyway, Installation was easy, Unit way bigger than I thought. Sound Quality is GREAT!!! First I listened to music I am very familiar with and the quality even from mp3's were a big big step up from the Audient. Mic Pres are Clean, Quiet, and Open. I have a MXL V69 and it sounds great. Tracked bass thru a D.I and guitars and both sound professional. Plain and simple. Easy to use software by my accounts. I would say it is better than Duet because the sound quality is just as professional and the preamps are WAYYY better and for 400.00. You will have pro quality converters and pres as the big boys. Now its all about recording and mixing techniques. No more excuses about quality!!

Best value in pro audio

The DAC and headphone amp are worth the price alone for monitoring and mixing. Then add the interface features, the two very clean preamp/ input channels, digital connectivity, build quality and it's a no brain purchase for anyone with less than the most expensive boutique setup. Shabby to chic in a bite sized buy. This is some of the best stuff I've heard to date at any price. I can't say enough about the Burr Brown equipped DAC, especially. I recommend a pair of 24 dB line level XLR pads on the outputs to get a more reasonable volume on the volume knob, more usable range. Wow, Tascam. Wow!

Tascam UH-7000 ROCKS!

Thank you Mark Chapman for suggesting this unit. It works perfectly with Sonar X3 Producer. Clean, clear and crisp. And dead silent when it should be. Easy to set up and even the headphone output is great. This is a quality built unit. If you haven't upgraded your interface in eight or so years you will simply have to buy this unit. You now right away when you hear this thing that it's special. Thanks Mark!

The proof is in my song! Listen to my track...

This unit is as good as my Lynx Hilo, if not better. With the Hilo you pay for a digital mixer, expanded I/O and a touch screen. The UH-7000 converters sound as good but you don't get all the bells and whistles as the Hilo. If you are looking for something to do simple record and monitor singer-songwriter material, this blows away EVERYTHING! And I mean everything, I've owned the duet by apogee, maudio, presonus and the likes. Please listen to the song below. It was recorded with The UH-7000 exclusively. The mix down was re-recorded in real time! The master track was run through ozone 5 and then re-recorded in real time AGAIN! The mix is to me is very clean, but I'm not a mix engineer, nor a mastering engineer. This unit will give you a chance to get to that level. I used PRO Tools 10. Plug ins will give you a more saturated sound, but I'm not at that level yet or budget. The pre-amps are simply amazing! I set the unit to the highest latency setting and started recording. I have not used the effects in the DSP mixer so I can't comment. Stability is A+! I use an older 2012 HP pavilion and everything worked fine, no drop outs or clicks etc. I used a rode NT-1 mic for vocals, Taylor 314ce directly in. Luna ukulele direct and Ibanez gio bass. That's it. Get one! Look me up on soundcloud and you will hear my mixes

Its a great box

This is top of the line audio quality, with some pro features, but a fraction of the cost. Clean and quiet, the pre's sound as good as my apogee trak2. No issues with driver or firmware updates, software is straightforward (Win 8 x64). Makes me want another one, and that is kinda rare these days. If the connectivity options fit your needs, then this is the box to own.

Sweetwater Advice

Mason Moss

Since I began using it in my studio, the TASCAM UH-7000 has performed well as both a top-quality interface and a high-end mic preamp. With its studio-grade clarity and depth, I wouldnt hesitate to use it for major label recordings on vocals or instruments.
