Harness the History of Recorded Music — Inside Your DAW

Imagine having virtually every major piece of gear that has shaped the sound of recorded music for nearly a century... that's essentially what you're getting when you purchase the UAD Studio Classics Native plug-in bundle from Universal Audio. First, the name Fairchild needs no introduction, and both the 660 and 670 are onboard in the Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection. Second, the LA-6176 signature channel strip brings you a 610, an LA-2A, and an 1176 all-in-one plug-in! Next, the Lexicon 224 digital reverb gives that prized '80s reverb sound in spades. Additionally, the 175b & 176 tube compressors were literally the first compressors ever made specifically for recording and mixing music — now you've got them in plug-in form. Finally, the Ampex ATR-102 master tape recorder provides the "glue" that holds everything together.

Note: To access this bundle, you must have an iLok account— a physical iLok is optional. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer with any questions.

Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection

The Universal Audio UAD Fairchild Tube Limiter Collection plug-in hand delivers the world’s best analog emulations of the Fairchild 660 mono and the 670 stereo compressor/limiters. Using Ocean Way Studios’ “golden reference” Fairchild hardware units, UA’s dream team of DSP engineers captured the complete behaviors of both units’ entire circuit paths, even adding the stereo sidechain link custom hardware mod. Then, UA catapulted these revered compressors into the 21st century by adding plug-in-only features catered to modern workflows, such as Dry/Wet Mix Control, Sidechain Filtering, Headroom Control, and mixing presets from famous Fairchild users. The resulting plug-in collection doesn’t just sound like Fairchilds; they are Fairchilds, with all the 660 snarl and 670 sheen from the originals now available in your DAW or Apollo interface.

LA-6176 signature channel strip

Used on hits by artists such as Adele, Coldplay, and Pharell Williams, the hardware 6176 channel strip represents one of UA’s iconic pieces of kit. Now, you can bring home that same legendary analog color and comprehensive flexibility with the new Universal Audio LA-6176 Signature Channel Strip plug-in. With three stellar UA products in one, there’s no tracking, mixing, or mastering task the LA-6176 plug-in can’t handle. You’ll get the 610 mic preamp with its deep and contemporary EQ circuit, the 1176 limiting amplifier’s ultra-fast transient response, and the LA-2A leveling amplifier’s optical compression that has defined vocals for decades. Plus, by simply flipping a switch, you’ll be able to jump between the 1176/LA-2A and find your ideal dynamic response in no time. Finally, Sweetwater studio engineers have been stunned by how well the LA-6176 records in real-time through Apollo interfaces. Just think of the possibilities — three of UA’s most revered circuits on a single Unison channel!

Lexicon 224 digital reverb

No single sound exemplifies the ’80s quite like digital reverb, and arguably no single digital reverb unit was as loved as the Lexicon 224. In fact, its enormous unearthly sound still inspires musicians to reach for it — or a clone of it — to this day, proving that the Lexicon 224 is a timeless piece of studio gear. Now, thanks to UA’s astounding efforts, you don’t have to settle for a meager clone: you can get the complete authenticity of an original hardware Lexicon 224 Digital Reverb unit right in your DAW or Apollo interface. UA has modeled the analog and digital paths of a real Lexicon 224, including input transformers, early AD/DA 12-bit gain stepping converters, precise control processor code and algorithms, and more. The result is an impeccable Lexicon-endorsed capture of the 224’s eight era-defining reverb programs, its chorus program, controls, and more, all based on the 224’s final firmware version 4.4 (which is becoming increasingly difficult to find). Topped off by exclusive plugin-only features and presets from famous users and even bug fixes from the original, the UAD Lexicon 224 digital reverb plug-in delivers both classic and cutting-edge vibes.

175B & 176 tube compressors

Fast attack times, independently variable Attack and Release controls, a compression circuit with warm harmonic saturation that doubles purely as a “tone box”… sound familiar? These staple compressor features had to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is Universal Audio’s 175B and 176 tube compressors. As the first compressors designed specifically for recording and mixing music, many of the original features are retained on contemporary compressors. The Universal Audio UAD 175B & 176 Tube Compressor plug-in collection gives these trailblazers a 21st-century facelift by adding Dry/Wet Mix controls, Stereo Sidechain-link, variable input/output gain adjustments, and presets from studio wizards Jacquire King, Carl Glanville, Joe Chiccarelli, and more. Ready to sprinkle some vintage compressor character on your recordings? The Universal Audio UAD 175B & 176 tube compressor collection is waiting for you.

Ampex ATR-102 mastering tape recorder

As the only emulation that the Ampex Corporation fully authenticates, it’s safe to say that you can trust Universal Audio’s Ampex ATR-102 UAD plug-in and LUNA Extension to lend the final analog “glue” that will turn your productions into perfections. Long utilized by studio giants such as Chick Ainlay, Mike Poole, and more, the classic Ampex ATR-102 tape machine has been revered for its rich saturation, deep warmth, and harmonic coloration ever since it hit the scene in 1976. The precise emulation that only UA can provide, coupled with intuitive controls, puts this industry-standard tape machine at your command with various signal paths, tape heads/speeds/formulas, emphasis EQs, and other features geared toward a contemporary workflow. Auto-Gain enables you to maintain perfect gain staging while you explore, and Auto-Cal adjusts to the perfect “flat” EQ and bias voltage for your currently selected tape settings. Infuse your music with authentic hardware non-linearities or disable them for a cleaner sound. All of this potential and more lurk inside the Ampex ATR-102 UAD plug-in and LUNA Extension from Universal Audio.
