Explore Multitudes of 1990s-era Metal Malice

Tracing back to the early ’90s, as everything from grunge and thrash to death metal and black metal exploded in popularity, a deluge of distortion took the guitar world by storm. Now, with Universal Audio’s UAFX Anti 1992 High Gain Amp, the seminal sounds of the era’s multidimensional suite of distorted and overdriven tones were carefully captured, modeled, and packaged into a sleek stompbox. Equal parts amp-in-a-box and distortion pedal, the UAFX Anti 1992 gives you access to a diverse array of sonic-sculpting tools, with multiple cab-speaker combos, live and preset modes, performance-focused channel settings, a 4-cable mode, and beyond. Plus, the Anti 1992 features a 3-band EQ, onboard noise gate, and a slew of customization options available via the accompanying UAFX Control mobile app (including bonus cabs), immensely expanding your stereo-shaping capabilities. Additionally, with USB MIDI compatibility, you can further expand your control with additional presets and performance modes. Sweetwater guitarists agree that the UAFX Anti 1992 masterfully supplies the degrees of distortion that the pedal’s spiritual predecessor — an iconic 120-watt tube head — delivered to define an era. Spanning Scandinavia and Southern California to Seattle and South Florida, an onslaught of early-’90s metal tones is ripe for your pedalboard.

Six onboard modes of era-defining tonal terror

Beneath the sleek and ergonomic form factor of the Anti 1992 High Gain Amp, Universal Audio’s UAFX dual-engine empowers worlds of diverse distortions, unrivaled in its emulation authenticity. Its hexad of tone-crafting possibilities comprises time-tested cab-mic combination settings alongside performance-minded channel designations comprising Rhythm, Crunch, and Lead modes.

  • UK V30: 4 x 12-inch Marshall cab, stocked with V30s
  • CA V30: 4 x 12-inch Oversized cab, loaded with V30s
  • White 75: 4 x 12-inch Marshall cab, with iconic Celestion 75s
  • D65: 2x12 cab stocked with D65s

  • Brown JB: 4 x 12-inch cab, utilizing JBL speakers

State-of-the-art sound, control, and room modeling

Packing the multidimensional sonics of the 120-watt tone titan that birthed an era of sound into a singular stompbox is no small feat. However, UA knew the UAFX Anti 1992 needed to innovate on the iconic tones of the time. Every setting and sonic configuration utilizes the company’s cutting-edge Dynamic Room Modeling technology, derived from its award-winning OX, to give lifelike depth and dimension to your hallmark tones. Its dual-switch design expands your gain-crafting capabilities with Live and Preset modes accessed from the right-side switch, while the left-side switch can be configured for Live, Gate, or Overdrive operations. Moreover, high and low input routing is available, in addition to four BIAS Modes: Cool, Warm, Cool Choke, and Warm Choke, with additional Post Gain and Room parameters to further hone your tones.

Expanded sonic-sculpting capabilities

Diving into the Anti 1992’s accompanying UAFX Control app unveils a detailed suite of sound-design possibilities, accessed via Bluetooth pairing with your iOS or Android device. Presets designed by guitarists from Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Tetrarch, and the Black Dahlia Murder supply era-accurate tones from your favorite records — but these album-ready presets are only the beginning! TS-style overdrive and TCE-inspired integrated preamp settings are selected via the app, with a Bright Switch toggle and customizable Noise Gate Threshold, Attack, Release, and Hold values instantly realized, hands-free. A trio of comprehensive Clean, Punch, or Punch+ options expands the Rhythm channel’s capabilities. Punch mode combines the high-voltage lead with the Clean channel’s robust lows, optimized for 7- or 8-string guitars, and a plethora of down-tuned destruction. Punch+ augments this mode by introducing a 10,000-ohm cathode resistor to the rig’s cold clipper circuit, resulting in a multiplicative boon to gain, harmonics, crunch, and character.

Powerful channel-switching control

Each pedal in Universal Audio's UAFX series features a "4-cable" mode accessible via the UAFX Control app, allowing you to bypass your amp's preamp when the pedal is engaged for incredibly realistic tube-style tones. By hooking your pedal up to both your effects loop send/return and the front of amp input, you can instantly switch between your amp's stock tone and your UAFX pedal routed straight into the power amp, effectively adding two extra channels to your amplifier. What's more, Universal Audio designed this feature with multiple pedal setups in mind — you can connect any number of UAFX pedals in this configuration for multichannel madness!

Get the most out of your UAFX gear

UAFX 2.0 is here, designed to give you the greatest control over your tone and your live setup. With this latest update, the Anti 1992 High Gain Amp boasts improved Bluetooth and USB-C controls for enhanced connection with Universal Audio's powerful UAFX app, new footswitch modes for intelligent preset switching, and USB MIDI control, opening a world of vast performance capabilities. Whether you engage the UAFX app to unlock deeper tone shaping and access artist-curated presets and effects, explore Live, Tour, and A/B-C/D footswitch performance modes, or connect with your programmable MIDI rig for access to 128 recallable presets and enhanced real-time expression, UAFX 2.0 is primed to elevate every dimension of your playing experience.

I'm Loving this bad boy, unfortunately just moved and studio disassembled and no gigs, But coming soon to a song in your Earhole. This is going to play a Big role in my new recordings and Live shows. I HIGHLY recommend you have one. You won't regret it.
Music background: Power Groove Rock or anything that moves and Grooves.
Universal Audio does it again as always
Absolutely killer, only had a day to fiddle with it and loving it already. Will record with it in 10 days. I'm excited.thank you Nathaniel once again for showing me the light once again. I'm stoked.
Music background: Power groove Rock, Funk and anything that grooves
Excellent product!

Just received this pedal yesterday and so far, I can't say enough good things about it. I'm running it via the 4-cable method into my Friedman Smallbox into a 2x12 with V30s and it provides all the 5150 tones you could possibly want. It honestly saved me from spending $ on another head to play the modern metal stuff I couldn't quite get out of the Smallbox. Highly recommend!

And as always, Kenny Stratton was excellent to work with. He's a massive help.

This is the state-of-the-art...
My view so far, is that this is the amp modeler for those who dislike amp modelers. If you spend the time to get into the unit the tones will be some, if not the very best you have ever heard. I also have the Lion68 and after a couple days learning the app params and such it is better than any demo I have seen and much better than most have shown it. The Lion is box of Marshall in a vast range of excellent cleans to uber EVH+ gain you could wish for. Who knows there are 3 more additional gain adjust modes within the clean channel? Pays to read and explore my friends. The ANTI is the next step in ultra articulate gains and it contains the gamut of the 5150. All studio grade and whatever this voodoo is UAFX has developed. I do not use guitar amps and have not for very long time, the ability to do that has gotten better and better and this new UAFX stuff is just ball way out of the park. I appreciate how easy it is to shut off the speaker emulations when I want to use my power amp and cabs and easy click to use them with headphones. Just great pedals and a decent price, sure there sound be more preset storage and midi switching but the price would have easily gone to $ per unit so good on UAFX for letting us get a try at this new tech marvel.
I have some very high-quality top shelf pedals that function as preamps and believe me they sound great but when you kick on the UAFX modeler you can just hear the "amp" thing, both sound great but that "amp" thing is there on the UAFX stuff. These guys have raised the bar and tech with these pedals and they are much better than anything I have seen or heard out on the tiles.
