DigiTech Trio+: A Full Band and Looper in One Box

The DigiTech Trio+ band creator and looper pedal is one of the most powerful practice, writing, and performance tools a guitarist can ask for. The basis of the pedal is DigiTech's popular Trio technology that listens to your playing and automatically plays bass and drum accompaniment. But the DigiTech Trio+ offers five additional genres for getting the right feel. An onboard looper lets you lay down rhythm guitar parts for each loop. And the DigiTech Trio+ lets you store and sequence these loops any way you choose to build full songs for your performances.

DigiTech Trio+ Lets You Create Your Own Backing Band

Drums and bass on demand

The heart and soul of the DigiTech Trio+ pedal is the same technology that made the original Trio pedal a massive hit. You choose a genre and a style variation and begin playing. The DigiTech Trio+ will listen to your guitar and instantly offer the correct bass and drum parts to fill the song.

More musical genres

On the DigiTech Trio+ you'll enjoy five additional genres of accompaniment that the original Trio pedal didn't offer. And you can instantly and easily change the tempo of your songs and loops without affecting their pitch, which means you can experiment with different tempos without breaking your creative flow.

A bass player you can control

Not everyone wants a busy bass line. The DigiTech Trio+ pedal offers three bass line modes, ranging from simple to complex to suit whatever style of music you're playing.

DigiTech Trio+ Offers Built-in Looping and Recording

Easy-to-use looping

Onboard the DigiTech Trio+ pedal is a powerful looping function that is the same as DigiTech's powerful JamMan line of looping effects. The looper footswitch controls the whole thing, allowing you to record, play back, undo, and redo songs at a whim.

Record your loops to SD card

The DigiTech Trio+ pedal is equipped with a Micro SD card slot, and includes an 8 GB card. You can expand the power of your DigiTech Trio+ pedal as you wish by using cards with larger storage capabilities. It's a great way to capture new song ideas while they're fresh.

Create and record up to 5 song parts

Use the DigiTech Trio+ pedal to learn up to five different song parts (intro, verse, chorus and so on) and combine them into a full song. You can store songs along with their loops to SD card (up to 12 songs with loops on the included SD card). To make it even easier to manage your songs and loops, free librarian software is available at the DigiTech website.

Create your song as you go

Create individual parts for intro, verse, chorus, and so on

The DigiTech Trio+ pedal will become your favorite song-writing partner. When looping, you can save your different sections into one of five Part locations. Each Part can be accessed instantly and arranged as a 5-step sequence. You can move each section around as you please.

Add tempo variations to your song

Pressing the Alt Time button on the DigiTech Trio+ allows you to change the tempo for a song Part independently of the other Parts. That means you can have timing and tempo variations throughout your song, whether you want a subtle speed variation or a drastic change in tempo for a certain part.

Create a different mix for each song section

You're able to control the intensity of the backing band for each individual Part, allowing you to bring up the volume for choruses and dial it back a bit for quieter sections. Individual volume controls for Bass, Drums, and loops allow you to fine-tune your band mix as a whole.

Reviews

Trio Plus will make you or expose your lack of patience....
I've had a Trio Plus for Years now...It was a challenge at first. But I finally waded into it with surprising success..I've seen several musician reviews copping out on it. Simply because they had no patience or understanding of how the device works. WELL MY FRIENDS...GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO DON'T GIVE UP....I have found ways to use mine that aren't even written in the manual. YOU MUST FEEL THE FORCE OF THE TRIO.. THEN IT WILL BE STRONG WITH YOU..
Music background: This That and the other.
Awesome tool!
Great pedal but some times it's hard to get just the right "feel" on certain songs. Maybe it will get easier after more practice with it.
It is a must have when bass players and drummers can't be found.
Music background: Guitar player and worship team.
Revealing! Thank you Sweetwater
Amazing product, never seen anything like it, especially like the small footprint. The Trio + is a tool that you need to learn how to use, those that unfortunately post negative results perhaps need to consider their musical weaknesses instead of the system. Had mine almost a year and it just gets better and better. Favorite is to lay down a basic track and explore other genres with the loop, taking a country song to a hip hop genre for example can sometimes sound incredible. The hours of exploration and hours of enjoyment makes it a great musical investment. Understand it's not for everyone though.

Great Experience Team
The team at Sweetwater are incredible. I had an issue with a purchase, Sam and Randy took care of the problem that day!!! I used to be a GC guy, now I'm Sweetwater all the way.

Thank You

Great practice and jamming tool. Not *that* hard to use.
I wonder how many people complaining the Trio+ is too complex actually bothered to read the manual. Yes, it has a lot of features crammed into it, so it has a bit of learning curve, but if you actually follow the instructions the controls are pretty intuitive. I was able to lay down a backing track and loop within an hour of unboxing it. A few things:

- When teaching the band creator, you get best results using simple unsyncopated strums (read the manual). The more you try to embellish the more you'll "confuse" the band. Save the embellishments for the looper. Using a click track also helps. As with every looper ever, your timing is everything.
- Some genres do seem to have better "bands" than others. I really like the R&B genre - great for funk, surf, and raggae. If something seems off, try toggling the styles (or reteach the band).
- Placement in your chain matters, and definitely make use of the effects loop. At first the Trio wasn't as good at picking up my guitar when placed last at the end where my looper normally goes. It would have to strum harder to get the band creator to start listening. It also added a good amount of hissing noise in series. Putting my entire pedalboard in the Trio's send/return loop solved both problems.

I haven't played around with the song part creator much yet, but for quickly generating backing tracks for practice or jamming, this thing is great. Best looper I've owned. Totally worth it.

What Do Our In-house Gear Experts Think?
Matthew LaMarche
I may be a one-man band, when I gig out with my DigiTech Trio Plus, but I sure don't sound like one. I love how the Trio Plus gives me complete control over its sounds. Every time I head to my local open mic night, I know that my set is going to be in the pocket, right where I want it to be. I play whatever I feel like playing, and this pedal always keeps up, whether I play jazz, metal, or country. I've never gotten so much out of such a litte box!
