Maintain Your Tone, Even with Long Effects Chains

You won't have to sacrifice your guitar tone to your effects pedals when you use the RJM Music Tone Saver audio buffer. Even great-sounding effects pedals can have lower-quality buffer circuits which lead to a loss of your top-end sparkle and definition, resulting in a muddy, indistinct tone. Put the Tone Saver at the end of your effects chain and this high-quality buffer maintains your signal quality, while also providing a transformer-isolated split output for another amplifier or just your guitar tuner. The Tone Saver uses 9 volts like most pedals, but internally converts that to 18 volts for amazing headroom. Pro guitarists worldwide know that the key to untarnished tone is a quality buffer circuit - choose the RJM Music Tone Saver audio buffer!

RJM Music Tone Saver Audio Buffer Features:
  • High-quality buffer circuit for your effects pedalboard
  • Internal 18V operation gives you incredible headroom
  • Add to your effects pedal chain to properly buffer your signal and maintain your tone
  • Gain adjustment to lets you make up for gain lost in your signal path
  • Transformer-isolated output lets you connect to a second amplifier, tuner, effects chain, and so forth
Maintain your tonal excellence with the RJM Music Tone Saver audio buffer!

Huge improvement!

The RJM Tone Saver saved my pedal board! Just by placing it first in the signal chain (before my first effect pedal) it improved the overall feel and tone of my rig. The high end is back, as is the feel of plugging straight into the amp. But there was a bonus benefit. I recently discovered that my tuner was creating some low level noise in my rig. The RJM Tone Saver has a secondary output - good for running stereo rigs or as a tuner out. This allowed me to remove my tuner from the main signal path going to my amp and instead place it in it's own isolated path. The result - my rig is dead quiet now. Awesome!!

Bring Back My Tone

This buffer is great for bringing back the tone loss from long cable runs. I love the snap and pop that it brings back to my sound. My signal runs through quite a few pedals and this helps keep my tone in tact. A very cool feature that separates this buffer from others is the ability to adjust the gain to compensate for some volume loss from pedals and whatnot. A very good product, but yes a little pricey. But it won't disappoint as long as you understand the its a buffer/splitter.

Power Tool

The RJM Tone Saver does all it claims by keeping the original quality & sound strong even when using a long cable. Two things that I don't personally like is (1) it doesn't come with an electrical connector which means you'll have to purchase one from another source. (2) The volume switch has to be turned up or down with a small screw driver. Having said that, the sound quality it maintains make this unit worth the purchase.

Maintaining your guitar tone in the face of the harsh environment of a loaded pedalboard and long cable runs can be a challenge. While one long cable may not trash your sound, and one pedal -- even a poorly designed one -- may not pull you under a tonal blanket, add a few more pedals, interconnect cables, and another long cable run or two, and you'll start to hear it. Opinions vary as to how you should handle this. Some guitarists prefer to go with all true-bypass pedals, others rely on low-capacitance cables to protect their sound, and some use buffered pedals, which have built-in electronics to protect your signal from harm. But the quality of built-in buffers is often less than stellar. RJM Music Technologies has another solution: the Tone Saver. The Tone Saver is a purpose-designed, high-quality buffer amp designed to condition your signal to deal with pedals and long cable runs. The Tone Saver couldn't be simpler: plug it into your signal chain, and enjoy pristine top end, plenty of headroom, and gain adjustment to compensate for losses due to pedals and cables. There's also a transformer-isolated split so you can route your signal to a second amp without hum or buzz problems. Easy to use and effective -- that's the way I like my music tools. And the Tone Saver qualifies. You'll be surprised how much of a difference it can make in your rig. Why not build your guiter/effects system from the ground up based on a solid, robust signal? Unless you're running a 10-foot cable from your guitar straight to your amp, you need the Tone Saver!
