A Clean Boost Built on Legacy
JHS has a knack for reimagining history’s most coveted sounds, and The Fumble is no exception. On the surface, it’s a simple JFET clean boost, but underneath, it’s a re-creation of a legendary amp circuit, identical to the clean section of the JHS NOTADÜMBLË V1. It’s a sound that’s lived in some of the most sought-after and expensive amplifiers ever built, tracing back to a humble 1970s acoustic preamp. Refreshingly uncomplicated, The Fumble’s two knobs handle everything: Output sets your master volume, and Input simultaneously attenuates bass and gain at the front of the circuit. Sweetwater guitarists find the responsive design moves easily from full and loud to thin and tight. That flexibility lets The Fumble work as a front-of-board buffer, an overdrive pusher, an amp slammer, or an end-of-chain solo boost. However you set it, The Fumble puts one of history’s most sought-after tones right at your feet.

A heritage three generations deep
The Fumble was born from another JHS project, the NOTADÜMBLË V1, which shared a similar goal: a faithful production version of an iconic amp circuit. That JFET preamp design was lifted almost part-for-part from a 1970s acoustic preamp, and built into one of the most iconic amp models ever created. JHS tells us that “The Fumble is a clone of that clone of that clone, three generations deep,” built to enhance your tone in myriad ways. Use it as a buffer to tighten everything downstream, or push the front of an overdrive for a second gain stage. You can also put it in front of a cranked tube amp to slam it for a bigger, more articulate attack, or simply crank the output for solo boosts sure to cut through any mix.
