Carey Nordstrand CND pickups bring modern guts to classic American tones

Offset bi-pole Nordstrand CND pickups give the Talman Bass exciting new tones for modern rock, pop, and metal. Roll back to the J-style bridge pickup for mid-rich R&B and jazz lines to aggressive distortion tones, or bump up to the P-style neck pickup for gutsy rock picking and fat thumping bass. The Talman's CND pickups give you a wide range of sonic territory to explore.

Custom electronics and 2-band EQ for sonic versatility

Once you've got your basic tone dialed in, use the Talman's 2-band EQ to carve out your space in the mix. The Talman makes it quick to dial in a suitable sound for just about any musical role in seconds. And when you need pure tone, bypass the EQ with the flip of a switch.

Striking retro looks

The Talman wins style points in Sweetwater's book with its thin-waisted body, bound fingerboard, chrome hardware, oversized tuning knobs, and retro red tortoiseshell pickguard. Guaranteed to turn heads.

Great tone!

I have been wanting a nice 5 string after selling my elcheapo 5 string a short while back. I have owned several Ibanez basses over the years and have always liked the quality for the price. I loved the looks of this bass with the ash body. The Norstrand pickups and the ability to play this bass either as active or opassive tone controls is a plus for me. I also love the neck binding and inlays as well. When I unpacked it I was thrilled with how it looked. It was flawless in fit and finish. I plugged it in and quickly determined that a wide variety of tones can be dialed in very easily. I like this bass a lot. It is not overly heavy for a 5 string. The neck feels great. The string spacing is 18mm. I like that it's only a little narrower that the common 19mm string spacing. It helps keep the neck from becoming huge and yet your fingers aren't tripping over each other like with some of the 16.5mm string spacing models I've played. As always, Sweetwater customer service was the best. I love the fact that my bass went through a 55 point inspection. That guarantees me that when I get my bass, I know it has been inspected and that everything is going to work. I am confident that my next new bass will come from Sweetwater. My sales rep. Jeff Bohan called to confirm my order. I have talked to Jeff several time before and placed several orders from him and he's the best. He sent me an email letting me know that my bass was shipping. Later on that day he sent a second email with several photos of my actual bass that they took there at Sweetwater. That's service above and beyond anywhere I have ever shopped for an instrument. If you are looking for a nice 5 string without breaking the bank, I highly recommend this bass and Sweetwater.

Talman bass

Great fit and finish. Great sound. Good fret work. The pick ups were on the high side, but that's not a big problem. I like the three screw adjustment, I don't know if it works any better or not, but I feel good about it. Dealing with sweetwater is as usual painless and easy.
