Refinement, Effortless Operation, and Remarkable Sound!

The Yamaha TF5 32-input digital console's fluid TouchFlow Operation will completely unleash your creativity, allowing you to respond to the music onstage with effortless speed and freedom. In other words, the TF5 ensures that nothing restricts your inspiration. Whether you're an experienced engineer or a complete novice, the TF5's level of refinement is nothing short of astonishing, making it remarkably easy to achieve a great mix. And after listening to the TF5's great-sounding D-Pre mic preamps, we think you'll agree that this comfortable, smooth-operating compact digital mixer doesn't skimp on sound quality, either. At Sweetwater, we believe that the Yamaha TF5 is a truly evolved 32-input digital console, thanks to its straightforward touchscreen design and practical presets and scenes. Check it out for yourself!

TouchFlow Operation - smooth, natural control flow

Smooth and refined, the Yamaha TF5 32-input digital console's TouchFlow Operation provides you with straightforward control that never stands between you and your music. The user interface on the TF5's touchscreen gives you easy, direct accessibility, with a layout that promotes natural, efficient mixing. On top of that, you get a physical Touch & Turn knob right beside the touchscreen, as well as four User Defined knobs, making extra-precise adjustments a breeze.

1-knob compression and EQ let you dial in the ideal sound

Gain, compressor, and EQ setup is child's play with the Yamaha TF5 32-input digital console. Whether you're an experienced front of house engineer or volunteering to run sound for a worship service, the TF5's simplified 1-knob operation lets you adjust compressor and EQ settings with confidence. With a simple twist of a knob, you can use a compressor to bring a guitar to life, add punch to bass, tighten up a snare, and make vocals ride clearly on the mix. On top of that, the TF5's finely tuned EQ lets you achieve outstanding results with minimum effort in the shortest possible time. You also get a Vocal Mode for clear, well-defined vocals, and an Intensity mode for simplified control over EQ curves. Finally, the TF5's GainFinder optimizes your gain setup so you can achieve Grade-A sound quality with little effort.

Presets and scenes - shortcuts to great sound

The Yamaha TF5 is probably one of the least intimidating 32-input digital consoles in existence, thanks to its incredibly practical presets and scenes. Working with microphone manufacturers such as Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, and Shure, as well as respected engineers, Yamaha has created a range of shortcuts to great sound that are effective in all kinds of situations. If you're a novice engineer, the TF5's presets will allow you to get a great mix without a bunch of tweaking. On the other hand, if you're an experienced engineer, you'll appreciate the significant time savings provided by having useful starting points instantly available to you. On top of that, you get two banks of scene memory (for a total of 200 scenes), that let you set up and instantly recall all of your settings for nearly any scenario you can dream up. You even get some pre-programmed scenes to get you started!

D-Pre mic preamps and onboard effects deliver phenomenal sound

The mic preamps play a significant role in defining the sound of your mix; that's why the Yamaha TF5 32-input digital console is loaded with 32 of their acclaimed D-Pre mic pres. Utilizing a circuit based on a discrete inverted Darlington configuration, D-Pre preamps provide you with a clean, precise sound that captures every nuance and subtlety of your source. The pure sound of these pres ensures that you won't need to spend hours EQing just to get a barely acceptable sound, like you would with low-quality mic preamps. You also get eight powerful processors, providing you with wide-ranging sonic control. In addition to the EQ and dynamics processors on each channel, you get 17 programs based on Yamaha's world-famous SPX processors, ranging from reverb and delay, through modulation effects, to 3-band multiband compression.

New to Digital Mixers

Suggested a Digital Mixer for a Church I was a worship leader at. Worked with Paul at Sweetwater and he recommended the Yamaha TF5. I have never set up a digital mixer. Downloaded the TF Editor software on my Mac. I had the complete mixer set up before I even unboxed the mixer. Sync'd my Mac to the board and instantly the board was configured, named, etc...There are some great videos on You Tube to help you navigate this board. We got tired of people coming in and screwing with them mixer. Now we can press one button and the mixer goes back to our pre configured settings. Thank you Sweetwater for all your help.

Great sound from a user friendly board

Its not often enough that something affordable does what it says in the description then goes and performs perfectly to what has been described. I have used other digital boards in this price range and found them lacking the tone and ease of use. I have to hand it to Yamaha they put out an easy to use great priced board.

Review Yamaha TF5 - 32 Channel

we absolutely love our new mixer! The main reason is that it is so user friendly! Its amazing what you can do with this thing! Being one of the guitarists in the band, my favorite feature is the ability to adjust my own monitor mix from my iphone or ipad. Yamaha did a wonderful job with this mixer. And of course Sweetwater lived up to their excellent customer service reputation. Thanks for all your help Jason! We will be purchasing more equipment from Sweetwater!

Very easy layed out like it a lot thanks

Missing a lot of key features

The TF5 would be an OK board in some situations but I have not enjoyed using it yet. There are no matrices so any delays or fills have to be run from post fade unity send auxs. No easy way to delay outputs; you have to use a stereo aux and insert a delay effect as you can't insert effects on mono auxs. No internal routing of auxs to LR; if you want to group channels to a graphic you have to patch the output back to an input with a physical cable. Flipping graphic to faders takes every fader so you can't push your channel fader up more. The RTA seems very insensitive, I didn't even realize there was an RTA until hours into using it. Touch screen isn't great, and lack of physical pots. I like the custom fader bank. Buy an M32 instead

Sweetwater Advice

Cristian Good

I stepped up from a Yamaha 01v96i to a TF5 a couple of years ago, and one of the things that blew me away was how easy it is to use. For example, its TouchFlow Operation, with the Touch and Turn knob, gives me easy access to all of my critical functions, and while I imagine this would make learning to mix on a digital board easy, it's still something a seasoned live sound engineer like me can appreciate. The same goes for the general setup too, and I love the fact that this board gives me everything I need, all in a package that's easy to take on tour.
