Sounds that help build your "drummer's ear"

As you build your drumming skills, you'll find yourself playing a variety of music from different genres. With the TD-1KV, you get 15 different kits to play in one small box. Roland has picked the best and most defining drum sounds from different genres - rock, jazz, even world music - and compiled great sounding kits for you to rock on while you're honing your stick skills. Onboard training functions help support your lessons, and an 1/8" input lets you plug in your MP3 player to jam with your favorite songs and encourage you to keep playing as you learn.

Quiet operation keeps you playing no matter the time of day

One of the greatest things about playing an electronic kit is being able to plug in a set of headphones and pound it out without anyone else being privy to your playing. As a beginner you'll find yourself less worried about mistakes and start-overs and push through until you nail it! And it's not just a lack of acoustic drums with reverberant heads and boomy shells, Roland gave the TD-1KV a beater-less kick trigger pedal, removing even the sound of a squeaky kick pedal.

An entry level kit with professional features

It has great sounds, it's quiet so you haven't upset neighbors, and it helps you become a great drummer - how could the TD-1KV possibly get any better? Well, just take a look at how small and easy to set up it is, and you'll see that the TD-1KV is at home just about anywhere. Its size is perfect for music schools with small lesson rooms already full of keyboards and guitar amps - when the lesson is over, simply push it into a corner out of the way. If you have a school-aged drummer, it's easy to find space in a bedroom for private playing and practice. In the studio, the USB output connects to your computer, giving you a playable MIDI controller to access software sound modules with, or letting you record directly into a DAW. And while you're connected, don't forget to check out all the fun to be had with Roland's V-Drums Friend Jam series applications which let you jam along with tracks, offer even more practice features, and get you playing head-to-head drum-offs with drummers from around the world!

Great quality and value in a starter VDrum kit

I researched the low end of VDrum kits and this one seemed perfect for my apartment recording studio needs: compact footprint, mesh snare drum, non-impact pedals and complete with no add-on's required. The sound quality is great and even though the selection of kits is limited I found several that suit my needs very well. I have no complaints about the kit and highly recommend it for anyone on a budget that wants good quality. Sweetwater has the best deal with free shipping and 24 mo./no interest on their card.

Yep there great, got a electric hook up no problems!! Thanks will for helping me pic these out!

Awesome Kit

This is a great kit! What more do you really need? When you take an acoustic set to a gig you have One sound! With this kit you have 15 kits at the gig? Over the years, I have owned Ludwig (1961) Pearl,Gretsch, Yamaha, Slingerland, Etc.... And I find everything I need and more from my TD1-KV. THE ONLY THING that is " Entry Level"Is the Price! I am super glad I chose this kit with theMesh head on the Snare. Very comfortable. The Rubber pads all feel great. I love the Modern design of the Rack. Everything is So ergonomically perfect. Great sensitivity. Great build quality from Roland. Not a toy! This could be used in any setting where space and carrying equipment is an issue. I love the black and white color scheme of my Kit. I would Recommend this outstanding deal to anyone beginner to pro. Great for any Gig!! Thanks, to John Ptak at Sweetwater. Great guy!!

Amazing feel for such little cutie

Having been impressed by my previous Roland Drum kit, I was a bit nervous this thing was going to feel like a toy. But once I got it set up to my liking, wow this thing really has feeling. The response from the onboard drum kits are super natural, and the small playing area feels easy to get around. Pads feel great too, not too hard. The only let down was the midi out via USB. It can't seem to handle super fast note triggering. It seems to miss notes here and there in trills and rolls. But it still has huge potential for techno production.

What a nice surprise!

This sweet little set 15 preset drum kits, and imo most of them aren't much, but I did find three that I like. Dual zone snare, and it really *REALLY* does do a rimshot, so I like that. The cymbals are all chokable, and the hi hat controller will "splash" the hats, do a real tight close, or splish around under the stick with less pressure on the foot control. Hi hat control has always been the bane of E-drums, Roland has managed to make a really decent hi hat. None of the kick drums sounds are anywhere close to the sound of my 1964 20" Gretsch kick, but it's the future and nothing is quite right here.. Anyway, I love this thing, and I can download apps and mix in music from my phone, computer, tablet (or even a cassette deck!) Many thanks to Jason and Brett and to Sweetwater Music making this one so easy.
