It's a high-power synthesizer application for the iPhone or iPod touch (sold separately through the Apple App Store). This app gives you three different synth engines, from drums to leads and basses that take full advantage of Akai's virtual analog synthesis. But that's just the beginning — SynthStation also gives you a set of powerful built-in effects, an awesome arpeggiator engine, a range of filters, an XY controller, and a full sequencer.

On the go? no problem! You can program sounds, sequence beats, and write entire songs with just your iPhone or iPod Touch by using the SynthStation app on its own. Tap out melodies on its on-screen 25-key keyboard, or lay out beat using its MPC-style pad display. You can get your whole set ready while you're on the bus, on break, or in between classes — then take the SynthStation25 with your gig or party and perform your creations live. When you're hooked into the SynthStation25, you also get a pitch wheel and a mod wheel, as well as octave buttons, sound-bank navigation buttons, and a set of stereo RCA and headphone outputs. And onboard USB gives you the power to use your SynthStation rig as a flexible MIDI controller or as a sound module for your favorite DAW software.
