And they did it in a package that looks and feels familiar. The Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups offer classic P-90, single-coil, and humbucking sounds, so you'll be ready for anything. And after playing this Summit Classic, you'll absolutely gush over the lightweight and comfortable feel and seemingly unlimited tones that you'll be able to pull out of the Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible.

Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:

  • Switch from passive to active with the Godin HDR System
  • Modern Godin design and construction elements
Achieve any tone with the Duncan P-Rail pickups

Sometimes the gig calls for more sounds than a single guitar can cover. But with Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups, you can easily access any sound you'd need. Call up the sound of a classic P-90, with all its sparkle and bark, the glassy sound of a single-coil, or the meaty sound of a humbucker, all at the flip of a switch. All the sounds you need are in your hands on the Godin Classic CT Convertible.

Switch from passive to active with the Godin HDR System

If all of the sonic options afforded by the Seymour Duncan P-Rail pickups aren't enough for you, the Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible electric guitar also features Godin's own High-Definition Revoicer (HDR) system. Just push the discreet button located near the guitar's tone knob, and the HDR system revoices and augments the frequency range of each pickup, and allows you to go from passive to active pickups with the simple push of a button.
You'll instantly notice extra bite, dynamic response, and clarity. It effectively doubles the power of an already multifaceted guitar!

Modern Godin design and construction elements

Sweetwater guitarists love how the Summit Classic CT Convertible was engineered to look and feel like an old friend. Constructed out of Spanish cedar, the chambered body of the guitar makes it comfortable and lightweight so you can gig all night. And the set mahogany neck is capped with a beautifully bound Richlite fretboard, which contains much of the tone of ebony with the same silky smooth feel when fretting.

Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • Solidbody electric guitar capable of many different sonic shades
  • P-Rail pickups offer more sounds than most 2-pickup guitars
  • Godin HDR system adds a whole new character to your sound
  • Chambered Spanish cedar body sounds like mahogany but is much lighter
  • Carved maple top offers an elegant look and clear tonality
  • Gig bag included
The Summit Classic CT Convertible is a great guitar for the versatile musician.

Most versitile guitar I have owned

I have owned this guitar for less than a month and have played out with it only once so far. I took three guitars to that gig and wound up playing this guitar all night. I have been looking all for my life for a guitar that covers all the bases. Single coil is single coil. Humbucker is humbucker. P-90 is P-90. Of course all of these come in different flavors. This guitar covers all of these options very well. The single coil sound is not an exact match for my Stratocaster, but it is a very musical sound that has a very similar effect. In humbucker mode it will not sound like a direct replacement for a Les Paul, but it does sound terrific. The settings I found myself gravitating toward were the P-90 settings. Wonderful chime and girth at the same time. There are those that will object to the Richlite fingerboard. Over the years I have come to prefer ebony or maple boards. I did not miss them a bit last weekend. As delivered to me by Sweetwater, this guitar plays wonderfully and is intonated perfectly. I would not recommend this guitar to anyone that must have the sound of a specific guitar and nothing else. They should buy that guitar. If they want a guitar that sounds like several different very musical guitars and plays almost perfectly, they could not do better than this. The workmanship is superb and the setup was as described above. It took me as much as 5 minutes to get used to the somewhat high and narrow frets, It took no time to adjust to the flatter fingerboard radius. Bends are clean all over the neck. It is all good. Love this guitar.

Perfect Guitar

This is an incredible guitar, great neck and fingerboard, and a beautiful finish. I have had lots of guitars the last 20 years, including ebony fingerboards. This Richlite board feels even nicer than ebony. Came set up perfectly. I would buy this again over other LP style guitars any day. Love the P-Rails and switching also.

Max versatility.

I bought this based on the Sweetwater video by the head guy at Godin. I figured if he was willing to put his company's reputation behind it, I'd be willing to buy it. I'm glad I did. Here's what's different:Body: light, chambered which gives you a real nice hint of a semi hollow body sound. Cut corners on back make it more comfortable. Thinner than a LP. Gold looks great. Whole thing feels great.Pickups: each pickup has a credible strat, p90, and humbucker sound. I agree with most other reviews: these pickups are great. I find myself using all three sounds. Up to now I had thought coil switching was a waste. Not now.Pickup control: on top of the normal 3 position selector switch, there is one 3 position switch for each pickup to select strat coil, p90, or humbucker. Each sounds great by itself. That's 6 sounds. When you have both pickups on, you can mix and match n & b pickup coils for a total of 9 more combinations. The two single coils (p90 and strat) are reverse wound so whe using either both strat coils or both p90s, you get a humbucker. On top of all that, there's an active boost that raises the volume a little. To be honest, I can't tell if the sound changes like Godin says. It may. It boosts the strat sound up to about the level of the humbucker.Bridge: Graphtec Resomax is lighter. Good match for this guitar. I tried a normal Tunamatic. Sounded more like a Les Paul, but lost some of the sound quality that makes this guitar so versatile. Resomax is back in.Quality: perfect. Originally thought neck wasn't fully inserted in body correctly, but noticed all of pix on Sweetwater were the same. After looking at the neck/body interface, it looks to me like this design would insure that the neck 'tang' would be bottomed out in body slot, which I expect would transfer sound better. I have a.couple 52 Teles, Amstd Strats, Les Pauls, and three semihollows. After a few weeks with this one, I still can't put it down.

Different sound and vibe from a Les Paul. This guitar has sound & vibe all it own.

Excellent Guitar - Lots of quality here for the price. I am beginning to love this guitarDefinitely higher quality build & craftsmanship and attention detail. My positive comments are:-Action and setup is excellent -Stays in tune and tunes easily with the different machine ratios- More Sounds & tones with the paddle switches (Single coil, Humbucker and P-90) -High-Definition Revoicer (HDR) system is an excellent addition to overall tones-Light weight Cedar BodyDifferent sound and vibe from a Les Paul. This guitar has sound & vibe all it own. It is becoming a favorite of mine.I would have given it 5 stars, except apparently Godin does not have a hardshell case that fits this guitar. The Godin gig bag that comes with this guitar is a typical inexpensive gig bag. I bought a Gator molded case for this guitar and I recommend a hardshell case since it has a set neck and is so precision crafted. I am very happy with this guitar.

Sweetwater Advice

Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible

I've learned to be skeptical about guitars that claim to be all things, but the new Godin Summit Classic CT Convertible - thanks to its comfortable playability, intuitive controls, and versatile Seymour Duncan P-Rails pickups - may make me a convert. Whether playing the Convertible through a vintage Twin Reverb, a Marshall Super Lead, a Sandora (which pays homage to the JTM45), or a humble Orange Micro Terror...the Godin sounded great and felt familiar....
