A Real Strat. Why Settle for Less?

When Leo Fender introduced the world to his newest creation, the Stratocaster, nobody could possibly have known it would change the face of contemporary music forever. Now it's back to the basics! Between the fast-action maple neck, comfort-contoured alder body, three single-coil pickups, and standard synchronized tremolo - this is where the tradition began and still carries on today in the surprisingly playable, pleasantly affordable Standard Series Stratocaster.

Fender Standard Stratocaster Features at a Glance:
  • Lightweight alder body with 3-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities
  • Vintage-style tremolo with high-mass bridge block
  • Three standard, single-coil Strat pickups
  • Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with modern C-shape and satin polyester finish

Lightweight alder body with 3-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities
It doesn't get any more basic than this. The Standard Series Stratocaster features a lightweight, comfort-contoured alder body that has actually changed very little since the first Strats rolled off the production lines in 1954. However, this new version actually has shielded body cavities for reduced hum and quieter operation than you'd get with a vintage 1950s Strat. A 3-ply white pickguard completes the classic look. Oh, and that low sticker price is pretty nice, too.

Vintage-style tremolo with high-mass bridge block
While there's no denying the fact that Leo Fender's guitar designs were an amazing blend of art and engineering, it was the erroneously named synchronized tremolo (it's actually a vibrato) that may well have been his most inspired bit of engineering. With it you could bend notes or even entire chords up or down without throwing the guitar out of tune. Even though Fender has continued to improve upon the tremolo, many players simply prefer the look and feel of the original. The Standard Strat comes with that vintage style tremolo, but also adds a high-mass bridge block for improved sustain and tone.

Three standard, single-coil Strat pickups
The Stratocaster was the first production line guitar with three pickups, and it's no surprise that this basic configuration is just as popular today as it was in 1954. So your new Standard Stratocaster comes from the factory with three standard Strat single-coil pickups with vintage-style ceramic magnets. Way back in the 1950s and 1960s, players had to carefully fiddle with their 3-position blade switch to get those in between pickup combinations. Don't worry. Your new Standard Strat comes with a modern 5-way blade switch for instant access to all the cool Strat tones.

Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with modern C-shape and satin polyester finish
Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player. In fact, he got his start repairing radios. So he had no idea that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. In time, those blonde maple necks and fingerboards became a Fender trademark, though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards on most of its models. This Standard Strat has the maple neck, but adds the rosewood fingerboard for a warmer, more traditional sound, look and feel. In keeping with contemporary tastes, this Strat has a more modern C-shaped maple neck with a satin polyester finish.

Fender Standard Series Stratocaster Features:
  • Brown sunburst color with polyester finish
  • Maple neck with modern C-shape
  • Alder top
  • Fender/Ping standard machine heads
  • 25.5" scale length
  • Rosewood fingerboard
  • 21 medium-jumbo frets
  • Dot inlays
  • 3 standard Strat single-coil pickups
  • Master volume and 2 tone controls
  • 5-position blade for pickup switching
  • Vintage style tremolo with high-mass bridge block
  • Chrome hardware

The Fender Standard Series Stratocaster is a real Strat - and really affordable!

Favorite Guitar

I've played many guitars, and this is definitely "my guitar", it feels good, plays good, and sounds great. That said, I think this guitar is a great "template" instrument, that can far surpass it's MIA counterparts. It's good stock, but with a few modifications you can make this guitar go from sweet singing to a pleasing biting snarl. So my rating stock, it's fabulous, I really think this guitar outshines many competitors guitars, and even guitars within fender's lineup. The neck is very, very comfortable & easy to play. A modification I did was completely rewire the guitar with "cloth wiring" (vintage-style) & stuck in D'Allen Voodoo 69 pickups. That really made this guitar transition into what I wanted, something that was smooth & crystalline, but can rip & roar with a little bit of overdrive. To clear up some vagueness, I was going for the SRV tone, and ended up being able to do it with a pickup swap.Along with this I totally removed all the stock pots and replaced with CTS pots, this made the volume & tone controls more linear from 0-10, where before almost all the entire dynamic range were from 9-10 on the volume control. Also the tuners stock are okay, but they've become increasingly difficult with thicker gauge strings, which I now play .11 gauge strings. I purchased Wilkinson direct replacement tuners, but they haven't come in yet so time will tell.I know I didn't make a real "applicable" review based on stock components, but the point I'm making is that it's a superb instrument, and has the potential to be a contender to the custom shop guitars in a heartbeat with just a few modifications. I think the guitar will speak for itself, if you decide to buy it, I'm sure you'll be just as happy as I've been with the guitar.

AMAZING STRAT

THESE GUYS ARE JUST AMAZING!!! Very cool store ready to help, the strat iis blowing me away their quality, very resonant and attetion to detail they turn around the industry, the wood is very good, I have no complaints, yes the pickups are noisy but also the American strat so to stay away of that you need to install noiseless pickups... Very nice guitar.

my friend loves it

I bought this guitar as a gift to my friend who is part of this band I joined up with. He said he always wanted a fender so got him one ever since his playing style has been evolving it's so sick. Til this day he can't stop thanking me for it, I heard for myself and I was blown away by it's sound. In short it's a perfect guitar for anyone to own.
