1959 Was a Special Year for the Strat...

With your hands on the Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar, you'll understand why 1959 was such a special year for the iconic Strat. Fender based the American Vintage Series on actual vintage guitars from their past, to bring you a period-correct '59 Strat that plays like a modern classic. The American Vintage '59 Stratocaster is built just like an original - you get an alder body, a slim-profile D-shaped maple neck, a maple fingerboard, and vintage-style appointments throughout. And with a trio of specially-voiced American Vintage '59 Strat single-coil pickups, your favorite amplifier will love the Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster as much as you do.

American Vintage Series means period-accurate details

Fender spared no expense in creating the American Vintage Series, and you'll see it in the American Vintage '59 Stratocaster. To make it as vintage-accurate as possible, Fender restored original tooling dies, voiced new pickups, and even reformulated vintage finishes based on actual vintage examples. The result is a guitar that not only looks accurate - it feels like you're playing a well-worn-in classic that's been waiting to be re-discovered.

Why 1959?

Fender chose to include 1959 models in their American Vintage Series, because it was an especially innovative year for the Stratocaster. By the end of the year Fender had experimented with slimmer necks, rosewood fretboards, and multi-ply laminated pickguards. This American Vintage '59 Strat boasts the slim-profile "D"-shaped neck, but has a single-ply pickguard and a maple fretboard, making it a perfect reproduction of an early-'59 Strat.

Vintage-style pickups provide classic tone

Fender wouldn't rest until the American Vintage '59 Stratocaster sounded as vintage as it looks, so they got to work developing a special set of pickups specifically for the American Vintage Series. This Strat packs a trio of American Vintage '59 Strat single-coil pickups, specially wound to period-correct specs and tone. You get the same tonal versatility that made the Strat the legend it is today.

Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • American Vintage Series Stratocaster, based on the design of original 1959 Strats
  • Vintage-style Flash Coat Lacquer finish is thinner than modern finishes, allowing the alder body to "breathe" and enhance tonally as it ages
  • Slim-profile "D"-shaped neck plays fast, and is true to 1959-style Strats
  • Three specially-voiced American Vintage '59 Strat single-coil pickups are wound to match the sound and specs of original '50s pickups
  • Aged plastic knobs and switchcaps complete the vintage look
  • Comes with Vintage '59 Strat strap, cable, cloth, vintage 3-position switch, '50s Strat information kit, bridge cover, owners manual, and saddle height wrench
  • Deluxe Vintage Brown hard case included

Fantastic Guitar

I purchased this as an in store Demo Model from Sweetwater. Had a couple finish dings but otherwise it was listed in new condition with no previous owner. I must say Matt Wood and Kenny Bergle were just amazing to deal with getting this instrument into my hands. Can't speak highly enough of those 2 and they were great to deal with. They went above and beyond IMO. The details of this guitar should speak for themselves if you are considering one of these American Vintage Models. The case itself is a thing of beauty. Just looking at the outside of it you know a quality instrument is resting underneath. The moment you open this case and put this guitar in your hands you will see and feel where your money went. The neck just feels great. Nicely rolled edges and the way it's narrowed at the nut makes chording very comfortable. I like the way the neck widens as you move up on the fretboard. Every note and bend just feels effortless. There is truth to the thin finish these have when it relates to how the guitar resonates. You can hit chords and put your hand on the body and feel the vibration. You can feel it against your body. I feel this has quality woods with the maple and alder. The guitar is light weight yet feels solid. The electronics are top notch. I see no reason to swap out any of the pickups as every position sounds like what i think a strat should sound like. The volume and tone controls work very well together. There's no muddiness to be had when using the tone controls as they do not get bassy at all unless you completely turn these all the way off and even then that is a usable tone. From 1 to 10 is completely usable. In short i am totally happy with this guitar. I find this one inspiring and this is the first instrument i have picked up in a very long time that just makes me want to become a better player. It's too good of an instrument to not give it that justice. Thank You Fender and Thank You Sweetwater.
