Enjoy the Classic Tones of Yesteryear

The Fender American Vintage '56 Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar will transport you back to when rock 'n' roll was still a new thing. American Vintage '56 Strat single-coil pickups yield authentic vintage tones that pair well with the brightness, warmth, and midrange pop supplied by this guitar's ash body. Period-correct bridge saddles and tuner spacing, a comfortable soft V-shaped neck (one of the most popular Strat neck carves ever), and deeper '50s-style body contours maintain the classic feel of this instrument. The Fender American Vintage '56 Stratocaster solidbody electric guitar epitomizes the pure tonal magic, style, and flavor of 1956.

American Vintage Series means period-accurate details

Fender spared no expense in creating the American Vintage Series, and you'll see it in the American Vintage '56 Stratocaster. To make it as vintage-accurate as possible, Fender restored original tooling dies, voiced new pickups, and even reformulated vintage finishes based on actual vintage examples. The guitarists here at Sweetwater can attest to the well-worn-in looks and playability of these excellent instruments.

Why 1956?

1956 was big for the Stratocaster. Fender switched the body from ash to alder (with the exception of blonde-finished instruments), giving it the balanced tone we typically associate with the Strat. The baseball bat-sized U-shaped neck common to early models was replaced with a soft V-shaped neck (one of the most popular Strat necks of all time). Alnico III magnets, along with the modern butterfly-like string retainer, were also introduced.

Vintage-style pickups provide classic tone

Fender wouldn't rest until the American Vintage '56 Stratocaster sounded as vintage as it looks, so they got to work developing a special set of pickups specifically for the American Vintage Series. This Strat packs a trio of American Vintage '56 Strat single-coil pickups, specially wound to period-correct specs and sound. A modern 5-way blade pickup switch yields "in between" tones that weren't legitimately possible in 1956 (an optional 3-way switch is included if you're a stickler for authenticity).

Fender American Vintage '56 Stratocaster Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • American Vintage Series Stratocaster captures the essence of a 1956 Strat
  • Ash body delivers a great balance of brightness, warmth, and midrange pop
  • American Vintage '56 Strat single-coil pickups match the sound and specs of '56 pickups
  • Soft V-shaped neck plays fast and is true to 1956 Stratocasters
  • Period-correct bridge saddles and tuner spacing yields classic playability
  • Vintage-style Flash Coat Lacquer finish allows the body to "breathe" and enhance tonally as it ages

great lutherie

i bought this guitar 3 months ago and i can stop playin it......finally i found a real good strat (im not a big fan of the american standard and two points tremolo)....its not cheap but youre payin for somethin....evrything is nice and tight and the neck is fat .... its not a slim taper kinda neck....if you like big fat chunky neck youre at the good address...for the tone its really fendery with a darker edge to it but still clear and punchy ......really good if your into pedals too.... you like funky, blues, rock, country this axe will deliver for sure.........i play for 30 years or so and i used to own few good geetar along the way and this one is a keeper and will get old with me...

WoW!!

I had sold my 2001 57 AVRI to a friend.. and I regretted it almost immediately!! The is something about a maple necked Stratocaster that never fails to cast a spell on me.. So when I saw this ash bodied blonde beauty it was all over!! The pickups are very chimey and slightly darker than my 57s, and the neck has a bit more to it.. A soft V, but still very playable.. Rounded fretboard edges and tone to the bone!! It ain't cheap, but I'm done with crappy guitars.. Ya know what I mean? Instead of having 8 or 9 so-so gits, I have 3 top notch ones!! Ones that I can use onstage and will stay in tune and sound great!! By the way, Thanks to Evan Mulvahill.. He did a great job as always!!
