Funk Tones are Just the Start

The EarthQuaker Devices Spatial Delivery pedal is a voltage-controlled envelope filter, and EarthQuaker Devices promises it's good for much more than funky auto-wah effects. Use the Filter control to sweep through Lowpass, Bandpass and Highpass filter modes, then use the Range control to fine-tune how it responds to your pick attack. The powerful Resonance control can make the effect sound as subtle or extreme as you like. Guitarists at Sweetwater know that you don't need an envelope filter pedal on every song, but when it's called for, the EarthQuaker Devices Spatial Delivery pedal is a flexible solution indeed.

Spatial Delivery

This is a quirky little pedal that easily replaces a Wah-Wah. Taking time to learn its nuances will give a player both straight sound and the effect just by changing the attack on the strings. For the music I personally play, I haven't found use for the middle position on the mode switch, but the "Up" position on certain songs gives me what I need without having to practice for hours with a Wah pedal. Just stomp this pedal, back off and play. I strongly suggest watching the videos on this pedal. There is one on YouTube that gives some good advice on using it. My only complaint is the Input/output jacks on the pedals top. Makes it difficult to locate on a pedal board with limited room. Other than that, it's a great little stompbox.
Music background: Currently play at church and outside "Praise" gigs. Played as part of a group years ago. Also play mandolin.

Certain unique!

I bought this because I've always wanted a maestro filter sample and hold which are rare and expensive. Nigel Pulsford from Bush used one for some cool sounds on the Chemicals Between Us and Letting the Cables Sleep. This nails those tones. It also does the filter sweep up or down but I exclusively use it for sample and hold. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's a very niche pedal and there is no way to control the wet/dry (mix knob would have been great). The sample and hold is a very bold sound but I would have liked it to split the signal and then let you mix back in the effect. Quality is exceptional. This is my first EQD pedal but it won't be my last.

EarthQuaker Devices Spatial Delivery

With the toggle set to filter-up mode, positioning the knobs near noon yields the expected Jerry Garcia/Stevie Wonder quacking. These tones are tactile and pleasantly "chewy." Dialing back the sensitivity for lower-than-usual filter-cutoff yields darkly brassy timbres - a nice variation on the usual effect....
