Marco Sfogli’s S1 Powerhouse
Given his work with artists like James LaBrie, PFM, and Icefish, Marco Sfogli's technical skills call for high-performance tools, which is precisely why he’s partnered with Charvel for his signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 electric guitar. This powerful six-string is a persuasive collection of top-tier hardware, pickups, and tonewoods, with a few signature Sfogli touches that distinguish it from the usual S1 series. A solid alder body delivers the classic sound of California-inspired guitar engineering with added tonal richness and beauty from a quilt maple top. Meanwhile, a caramelized maple neck and fingerboard deliver high-octane playability turbo charged by an ultra-thin Charvel Speed Neck profile, three fiery EMG active pickups, and a compound fingerboard radius for improved verticality. Sweetwater metalheads also love this guitar's modified volume knob placement — it's located right next to the bridge where Marco likes it, enabling rapid volume swells and quick dynamic shifts at a moment's notice.

HSS perfected
The Marco Sfogli Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1’s HSS configuration and EMG active pickups are ready for anything. The EMG 89 in the bridge delivers just what you need for a top-notch HSS: warm but fierce articulation that's muscular and soulful. Two EMG SA-1 single-coils in the middle and neck positions complement the 89 perfectly with high-output Alnico V single-coil tone, complete with an expressive character defined by smooth creamy high-end and strong low-end definition. Together with a 5-way selector, a coil-split option for the bridge 89, and a recessed double-locking Floyd Rose tremolo system, this guitar is an open canvas for multifaceted expression and unleashed possibilities.
Stable caramelized tonewood
The Marco Sfogli Signature Pro-Mod’s neck is hands down one of the best necks a guitarist can ask for. The classic, fast feel of maple feel has been made even better through Charvel's caramelization process that removes excess moisture from the wood; without excess moisture, you get a more naturally playable neck that's incredibly resilient. Caramelized necks have bold stability and aren’t prone to the same issues as a standard neck when zipping across the country or between climates. Feel wise, this caramelized neck rocks an extra-thin profile, a Charvel Speed Neck, with rolled fingerboard edges for a broken-in feel you’d expect from a vintage instrument. The neck also features a 12–16-inch compound radius, a must-have for hot-rod players who need ideal anchor space at either end of the neck.
Charvel Pro-Mod Series
Charvel's Pro-Mod series guitars rock classic Charvel style, born in Southern California more than three decades ago. These axes are packed with the hot-rodded, high-performance features artists rely on: classic body styles, premium tonewoods; unfinished oiled necks; smooth, rolled fingerboard edges; scorching pickups; rock-solid bridges; and more. Take it from the guitar aficionados at Sweetwater: get your hands on a Pro-Mod, and you won't let go.
