Amazing flexibility

If you think the Soundcraft Si Expression 2's input side is impressive, know that all Si Expression boards also sport versatile bussing, output processing, and connectivity. You can configure the 14 aux/group mixes as 14 mono mixes, eight mono plus six stereo mixes - or just about anything in between. The four matrix mixes can be mono or stereo as required. You also get four more mix busses dedicated to the internal Lexicon FX processors - all in addition to the left, right and center busses. Each bus mix features always-available compression, 4-band EQ, BSS graphic EQ, and delay. Comprehensive output connectivity includes 16 balanced line outs, a headphone out, AES out, and the 64x64 option slot.

Onboard Lexicon FX processors

Soundcraft Si Expression consoles incorporate four stereo Lexicon FX processors based on the acclaimed MX400. With fully adjustable parameters and dedicated tap-tempo keys, you can tweak to your heart's content. These FX are hardware-based, so even if you're using a ton of them it doesn't affect your other processing in the slightest - all your dynamics, EQ, filters, delays, and GEQs will be always available, no questions asked.

Say goodbye to digital mixer confusion

Soundcraft's Si Expression mixers feature a 1 Control = 1 Function interface, with each control dedicated to a single function. No confusing control layering or endless menu purgatory navigation. This approach allows the Si Expression controls to be labelled on the surface just as they would be on an analog desk. Ah, productivity - how refreshing!

It's a Soundcraft

As befitting any Soundcraft digital mixer, Si Expression boards give you extensive facilities and legendary audio quality, courtesy of the cutting-edge EMMA DSP processor - the same DSP platform that has helped rocket previous Soundcraft Si series consoles to stardom. With prodigious processing power, bulletproof reliability, impressive flexibility, amazing ease of use, and a surprisingly friendly price tag, Si Expression mixers are an outstanding value. Exactly what you'd expect from Soundcraft.

Best In Class

A lot of digital mixers in this price range tend to skimp on quality to obtain the target price. The only thing I feel Soundcraft did to obtain the target price was subtract things they thought people could live without. There is not one feature on this console I do not use and with the addition of the iPad app, I don't need expensive scribble strips. The sound quality is all there, the preamps sound like Soundcraft, the gates work, the compressors compress, and the Lexicon is real the Lexicon. I also use a console 10x the cost of this one and I can't use the effects because they're terrible, but you can't go wrong with the Lexicon in these Soundcraft consoles. All in all, compared to other consoles in this price range, you get more than what you pay for because it sounds fantastic.

Perfect transition to digital!!!

I purchased this board after demoing a performer from a vendor. For the price I couldn't pass on this board. Previously I was using a Mackie 1604 with outboard processing. Now my foh rig takes up 1/3 of the space, one outlet as opposed to 7 and I have 200X the control I had before. Can't wait to get an ipad and set up the wireless control!!!

Soundcraft Si Expression

Soundcraft did it again and I'm hooked! Great sound, features such as Fader Glow, BSS GEQ,Fader layering, and Lexicon effects. Couldn't ask for a better mixer!

This thing is the real deal

First of all its a live mixing console with function and fidelity at its core. Also its Not some cheep audio interface that calls itself a mixer. I love it! I mix on a Vi6 on a daily basis and the Si expression SOUNDS AMAZING. Has GEQ's on all outs so right there it's better than the LS9. I'll put it this way I have mixed on a plethora of digital consoles from an O1v to an XL8 if you want a "Live", expandable, console on the cheap GRAB ONE.

The difference was immediate and dramatically better

Our church recently replaced an analog board with the Si 24. We expected improved sound quality but were elated with the dramatic enhancements. The on-board features of the Si 24 improved "the sound" in every aspect of worship from live and recorded music to the spoken word.

Sweetwater Advice

Mitch Gallagher

Soundcraft's new Si Expression mixing consoles combine all the power of digital with the usability and functionality of analog. I received a 24-channel Si Expression 2 for this "Hands On" article - Soundcraft also makes the 16-channel Si Expression 1 and the 32-channel Si Expression 3. (All three models feature up to 66 channels for processing.) Each input channel has an XLR mic input with preamp and phantom power; four line ins are provided on 1/4" connectors. There are also 16 XLR balanced outputs. Rounding out the I/O are AES digital ins and outs, MIDI I/O, and a word clock in. There's so much power in this console; we're talking, for example, four independent Lexicon effects processors, and EQ and dynamics on every channel. But even with all that power, it's easy to navigate the Si Expression. The front panel has a large section up top, with dedicated control sections, knobs, and switches for input, dynamics, EQ, and output, which follows whatever channel you select. No paging through menus to grab those oft-used controls; they're right there under your fingers. The motorized faders give you instant feedback on how your mix is dialed. The master section includes four mute groups, global mode switches, headphone out and level control, effects control, and a touchscreen for managing everything. An expansion card slot allows for a variety of additional functionality, including interfacing with a recording system. You'll find the Si Expression fast to learn and very fast to use - wielding an iPad running the Soundcraft ViSi app streamlines it even further. Of course, the crux of the biscuit is that Si Expression consoles sound great, and they have the complement of features required for live sound, whether you're rocking a band or providing sound for worship. If you're an old hand with live sound consoles or new to the game, the Si Expression is a mixer that will do the job for you, with stellar results!
