Focusrite Sound, Powerful Routing

Focusrite's second-generation Scarlett 18i8 USB audio interface delivers mountains of flexibility in a rugged metal unibody chassis. Four vibrant Focusrite mic/instrument preamps are right on the front panel where you need them, while the back panel hosts a slew of extra I/O, up to 18-in and 6-out simultaneously! With four additional line inputs around back, plus eight channels of optical input and two channels of S/PDIF I/O, the Scarlett 18i8 is a perfect foundation for home or project studios that need expandability. Plug in, fire up the bundled software, and you're ready to rock.

Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 at a Glance:

  • Optimized second-generation technology
  • Super-low latency for better performances
  • Exclusive software bundle gets you up and running fast
  • Smart I/O configuration for growing studios
  • Powerful signal management

Optimized second-generation technology

The 2nd-generation Focusrite Scarlett 18i8's exterior has undergone a sleek makeover. Under the hood, though, it's been tweaked and upgraded to deliver better sonics, lower latency, and enhanced ease of use. With sample rates up to 192kHz, you've got studio-grade sound for your projects. And Focusrite has evened out the gain structure of the natural-sounding Scarlett mic preamps, letting you set levels more accurately. The instrument inputs have also been reengineered to handle the hottest active pickups. Lastly, Focusrite has wired analog protection circuitry across the Scarlett 18i8's inputs and outputs, safeguarding your interface from damaging power surges.

Super-low latency for better performances

You know you perform better when you've got a great-sounding monitor mix with everything you need to hear to be inspired — for example, reverb and delay on a guitar solo. The Scarlett 18i8's super-low latency lets you monitor with native plug-in effects in real time, so you can hear your parts as you envision them and record better performances. At Sweetwater, we know you can't put a price on that.

Exclusive software bundle gets you up and running fast

The Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 ships with a killer software bundle headlined by the exclusive Pro Tools | First Focusrite Creative Pack, which features a 16-track version of the DAW with 12 additional plug-ins, including Eleven Lite guitar amp emulation. You also get Ableton Live Lite, Softube's Time and Tone Bundle, the Focusrite Red Plug-In Suite, 2GB of Loopmasters samples, and more. Focusrite has included everything you need to get up and running fast.

Smart I/O configuration for growing studios

The Scarlett 18i8 is a smart interface for most any recording task. Eight channels of analog inputs handle a respectable amount of gear, with optical and S/PDIF connectivity for expandability. Even if you produce your own music solo and only record a track at a time, you can leave more gear connected to your interface with the Scarlett 18i8, with the ability to easily reroute signals anytime.

Powerful signal management

To keep that high channel count under control, Focusrite included their acclaimed MixControl software for ultimate flexibility. Create up to six separate mixes with ultra-low latency, each routable to any of the Scarlett 18i8's outputs. Save your mixes for instant recall later on. Reroute your signal path without having to replug your whole studio. The Scarlett 18i8 was built with flexibility in mind.

Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 Features:

  • Compact USB 2.0 audio interface

Great Sound... well made

As others have said, this unit is well built and looks & sounds wonderful!! it took me several weeks to dial in the gain of the inputs to my liking, as I do audio restoration and this little guy is very sensitive. The brushed aluminum case is downright beautiful and I like the new jacks, they are even nicer than the older ones in the first iteration of this unit. The driver seems stable and hasn't caused me any issues so far. The sound is really nice as I can hear a lot more detail that I couldn't hear before in my older M-Audio interface. My only gripe is that I can't (at least not so far) route inputs 7-8 to outputs 1-2 in the Mix Control software sfor a little cleaner look on my desk. Other than that, It's a great unit and comes highly recommended.

I can't let it go....... lol

I mean, I just can't let it go,.... its so beautiful. I might have to sleep with it next to me tonight - lol No, seriously though. I am blown away by the construction. The anodized brushed aluminum body is just amazingly sharp and the whole thing just reeks of quality. Using it with Logic Pro X. Performance impeccable, dead quite, extremely low latency at extremely high performance levels. Just everything rock solid and seems to perform just as Focusrite advertises. 18 simultaneous inputs are just what the Doc ordered for connection to large board/sends for recording larger project if you need. Sure you can get USB mixer but only 2 channels to DAW usually. Perhaps the only trial I had was in a couple downloads of extras that were included in the bundle, and couldn't figure why things weren't connecting till I realized I had to go to settings on Mac and choose the Scarlett for audio (Duh). The 18i8 has the little extra features I needed and I couldn't be happier with it. No down side here... other than the constant compulsion to touching that beautiful brushed exterior :)Now I'm gonna go broke changing all my studio equipment to color coordinate now with the Scarlett :)

Focusrite 18i8

I just started using the Focusrite. 18i8. Actually I set it up for my son.........along with a small Nektar keyboard controller and "Acoustica Mixcraft" DAW. I did the computer configurations for him............he has a small studio set-up for a singer/songwriter. I use as a professional...........a much more elaborate system. However, so far.....I must say that the 18i8 is coming through for him. The pre-amps sound great.........and it has a lot of other features that make it fairly easy to integrate and operate. I highly recommend this particular Focusrite for small home studios.

As PJ said, it's a beautiful machine, especially with the brushed look! Most importantly, it works well, and it's fairly simple to use! (It may even have more features than I even need for voiceover recording.) I got an even better deal for purchasing a demo model, but I haven't had a problem with its performance at all. Good buy!

Easy to use, reliable.

This audio interface is good for a lot of beginner applications. Would highly recommend it.
