Sure to Satisfy Vintage Fuzz Enthusiasts

Never a brand to rest on its laurels, Electro-Harmonix equipped the Satisfaction Plus with the vintage-inspired snarl of the original Satisfaction Fuzz and supercharged it with a dramatically expanded control section. All of the original’s fizzy fuzz is present on the Norm setting, but a quick flip over to Fat unlocks a thick, bass-heavy fury that would make any ’60s-era guitarist thoroughly unsatisfied with their primitive pedal setup. Once you’ve chosen your preferred setting, the active til-shift EQ Tone control and voltage-sag-inspired Bias knob give you the power to sculpt your sound. One foot in the past and one foot in the future: the Satisfaction Plus Fuzz Pedal takes a classic Electro-Harmonix creation, then cranks it up to the next level!

Vastly enhanced tone-shaping control

While the original Satisfaction’s 2-knob control scheme was truer to the ’60s-era pedals that inspired it, we’ll gladly defy the vintage-correct formula for the Satisfaction Plus’s drastically upgraded control scheme! Bog-standard Volume and Attack controls dictate your level and gain, but the Bias and Tone knobs have quite a bit more going on under the hood. Bias functions almost like a battery starve feature, taking your tone from smooth, full-range fuzz to a spitting bite on its lower levels. Moreover, the Tone knob’s tilt-shift EQ design inversely controls your signal’s treble and bass frequencies for a near-limitless font of tones to tap into.

Dual-voice Fat/Norm switch

The Satisfaction Plus fuzz’s Fat/Norm control allows for a deep level of tonal versatility, essentially transforming the Satisfaction Plus into two distinctly different fuzzboxes. If you’re after treble-y, vintage-style fuzz that mid-’60s Keith Richards would surely approve of, the Norm setting will be your go-to. Hunting for a fatter fuzz sound? Sweetwater guitarists find that the Fat setting’s beefed-up low end is perfect for low-string riffage and full-bodied leads.

Electro-Harmonix Satisfaction Plus Features:

  • Electro-Harmonix’s vintage-inspired Satisfaction Fuzz pedal with a significantly expanded control section
  • Inspired by the first wave of ’60s-era fuzz pedals, boasting a versatile tone that goes from a fizzy growl to thick wall-of-wool mayhem
  • Standard Attack and Volume knobs dictate your overall gain and output level
  • Bias control takes you from a well-rounded fuzz to sputtering starved-voltage sounds
  • Flexible tilt-shift EQ tone control shapes both your treble and bass on a single knob
  • True bypass design to keep your sound crystal clear and uncolored when the pedal is disengaged

Fuzz-in Awesome

Love the Fat switch, a great upgrade from the original version.

These units are faulty, NOT Sweetwater's fault, however. Happened with another vendor, too!

I just read another review about this, and I experienced the same exact thing. I feel as if either the EHX promo video was inaccurate or there is an issue with the pedals upon shipping. I understand the bias control is supposed to "sputter" when moved to the left, but there is crackling....not sputtering. Unfortunately, it appears that EHX has an issue on their hands. I'd love to play the pedal, if it works, but this seems to be a trend with this particular one.

Not For Me !

I LOVE Fuzz! I have a number of different Fuzz pedals. And after listing to a number review and video clip I was really interested in this one. The biggest surprise was the popping and crackling in the "BIAS" pot when sweeping left to right and back again. I thought I had a bad unit. After talking to Sweetwater support they inform me that this is normal :-( I have other Fuzz pedals with "BIAS" knobs that don't snap, pop and crackle like Rice Krispies. I feel that Electro-Harmonix could do better.

The other issue: I didn't like the sound. It sounded thin and brittle even when adjusting the tone down and flipping the fat switch. I have several Tone Benders style pedal that do the 60's sound much better than this pedal. I suggest looking at something else. But, you mileage may vary.

I give Sweetwater 5 Stars… They were super helpful as always.
