Immaculate Guitar Processing from Solid State Logic
This impressive guitar modeling plug-in from Solid State Logic is an engineer’s perfect solution for all-in-one amplification! With four modules onboard and tools made for electric guitar, bass guitar, and acoustics, the Guitarstrip is the ideal conduit for pre-mix recording and mixing work. Three modules help shape your guitar tone: drive, compression, and EQ. The drive channel emulates genuine tube amp technology, so you can dial-in anything from subtle saturation to roaring grit. A spread of compressor and EQ options let you take that tone and sink it into your mix for dynamics that pop and guitars that sit perfectly. These modules not only offer core EQ and compressor functions, but they are also built with gain-optimized features that make managing hot signals easier than ever. And finally, the Guitarstrip’s extensive phase correction module can easily right anything that may go wrong along the way.

Drive
SSL’s Drive module emulates classic tube amps and is perfect for adding saturation and breakup or taming harshness. This module offers independent models for guitar and bass, so you get authentic processing either way. Pushing the drive module will emulate tube amp breakup and produce anything from warm harmonic saturation to jagged clipping. The drive control features automatic gain compensation, which is a fancy way to say it introduces harmonic content without affecting your signal’s overall volume — a must-have for quality tracks! Additional tone-sculpting tools like the boost, punch, edge, and shaping controls ensure there’s a right tone for your needs at any given time, and there’s even a wet/dry mix control for getting the drive’s articulation just right.
Compression and EQ
While the Guitarstrip’s drive module is very versatile, it’s the compression and EQ sections where your perfected signal becomes a reality. The EQ section offers pre/post placement options with drastically different results that affect the drive module’s character. There’s also low- and mid-gain sections that Sweetwater engineers are finding extremely useful for tweaking tracks to genre norms. Meanwhile, an audition feature helps you quickly test out different EQ options without losing your previous settings. When it comes to compression, you’ll find lots of ways to beef up tone and even out dynamics. There are five convenient presets, plus automatic gain makeup stops unwanted signal loss. A gain reduction meter helps you track the compressor’s behavior at any given moment, and there’s even advanced controls for parallel compression and a highpass filter with impressive +/- 24dB range.
Phase Correction
It’s easy to spend hours crafting the perfect guitar tone only to have it tarnished by phase issues. That’s why Solid State Logic wisely included a robust phase correction module with this plug-in. The extensive phase correction module has tools to correct any possible phase issue that may arise, so your tracks are clear and ready to be heard. Correction tools are broad and varied but come in an intuitive interface that’s a breeze to use. Options include a sidechain mode, left/right channel modes for stereo signal correction, a correlation meter that tracks phase difference, delay, and phase inverter controls, and the powerful ALLPASS filter with unity gain for making precise frequency-dependent adjustments. Topping it all off is a quick switch tool for comparing two modes side by side.
