A Modern 5-string Single-cutaway Soundgear

The Ibanez SRSC805 5-string electric bass's thin 5-piece maple and purpleheart neck is one of the fastest necks in its class. It boasts fluid playability and effortless upper fret access. The mahogany body with burl poplar top is comfortable for hours of playing and gets a sustain boost from the added mass of the upper bout. And the Ibanez SRSC805's Bartolini pickups and Ibanez MK-1 3-band EQ will dial in earthshaking lows and crystal-clear highs with ease. The SRSC805 is a boutique 5-string with a ton of sonic firepower.

Built for tone and comfort

The Soundgear series from Ibanez offers players a sleek alternative to many popular basses on the market today. The SRSC805's contoured mahogany body with poplar burl top provides a warm, woody tone that accentuates the instrument's low end. Its thin construction and rounded profile help the bass hug the curves of your body for exceptional comfort. And the upper bout adds sustain to your tone as well as reinforces the bass's neck for fantastic stability.

Fast neck for nimble runs

The Ibanez SRSC805 boasts an effortlessly playable 5-piece maple and purpleheart neck. The neck's thin and narrow contour is a favorite among many bassists, especially here at Sweetwater. Its 5-piece construction and massive neck-to-body contact is very stable under environmental stresses. And the abalone inlays on the purpleheart fingerboard pair beautifully with the neck woods and poplar/mahogany body to complete the picture. And the body's lower cutaway is deep enough to offer great upper-fret access.

Flexible Bartolini electronics

Thanks to the Bartolini MK-1 pickups and Ibanez EQB-IIIS 3-band EQ, there are an incredibly wide range of tones available in this 5-string bass. Soloing the neck pickup with a bit of a bass boost is wonderful for reggae. Just scoop the mids for a very modern slap tone. Or grab a pick, and this system will easily elicit a great hard rock drive. The SRSC805 is great for players who find themselves hopping from genre to genre, or who just want to take total control of their sound.

Ibanez SRSC805 Single-cutaway 5-string Electric Bass Guitar Features:
  • 5-string active bass guitar
  • Extended upper bout is great for stability and sustain
  • SR5 5-piece maple/purpleheart neck is fast and stable
  • Bartolini MK-1 pickups and EQB-IIIS preamp offer wide tonal control

The SRSC805 is great for gigging bassists who need a world of tones.

Great Versatile Instrument

I play in two different wedding/cover bands with a pretty diverse selection of tunes and this bass is versatile enough to handle everything. Right from the start I've been impressed with how even the tone is across all parts of the fretboard and the active pre-amp let's you dial in just about any sound you need. As a lot of other reviewers have said, this bass leans towards being treble-heavy when the EQ is flat, but rolling off the high end and adding some compression evened everything out. The neck-through construction lends great sustain and the Bartolini pickups everyone loves to hate sound pretty darn rich on this bass. Definitely a great instrument for the money.

funky and very fun instrument

I had somewhat low expectations going in. As someone who plays a lot of high-end basses (Fodera, Smith, Rob Allen), and my previous experience with some Ibanez instruments that were a bit rough around the edges, I was expecting ok to good. My plan was to swap to E-C tuning, as I really didn't like the BTB33 model. Got the SRSC805 and was frankly shocked at how well it played (after a setup) and the sound. Then I swapped to E-C, tweaked the action, and started comping chords, playing lines, looping - all the things I planned to do with this bass. And it it killing it. Some guys don't like the MK1 Barts but I think they sound great (especially through a Mesa D800+/Subway 1-12 rig). And I've got the action way low and it remains clean. Great bass. My only critique is that I'd like the front strap button to be close to the 12th fret, but it plays comfortably sitting down and works ok on a strap. Beyond that - killer bass.

Love this bass!!

I received my Cerro in February and I'm continually impressed by this instrument - the quality, the playability, and the tones. The B string on my Cerro is just great, and it's balanced well with the other strings. It has become one of my favorites in my current stable of basses, which includes several boutique/high end instruments. Highly Recommended!
