One Premier Turntable, Decades of Innovation

Holding the esteemed status of having invented the direct-drive turntable, Technics has remained at the forefront of sonic innovation for decades. The SL-1210GR2 direct-drive turntable system II is certain to forward this legacy. Boasting a revamped motor-drive circuit, the SL-1210GR2’s foundation begins with the cutting-edge Delta Sigma Drive, taking the company’s groundbreaking coreless direct-drive motor system to unprecedented heights of aural precision. DJs and turntablists at Sweetwater immediately noticed the boost in playback made possible via Technics’ new low-noise power supply technology, derived from their renowned Grand Class amplifiers. Unlike its predecessor, the SL-1210GR2 includes a 3mm die-cast aluminum cartridge spacer to expand cartridge compatibility and playback opportunities to suit any listener’s or DJ’s needs!

Delta Sigma Drive: cutting-edge motor-drive technology

Technics developed the Delta Sigma Drive to expand the sonic terrain and refine the playback experience of their coreless direct-drive motors. This motor-drive system deploys its world-class mastery over PWM signal processing to not only hamper intrusive high harmonics, but also completely eliminate motor vibration while masterfully cutting transmission to the stylus tip, keeping your records safe and sounding their absolute best. Moreover, the motor-drive circuit can substantially improve the reliability of the motor, rotation stability, and precision in tracking. This increased control means getting more mileage from its variable playback modes: 33, 45, and 78 rpm. Plus, flexible range adjustments make sonic exploration, beat juggling, mixing, and more a breeze, beginning with ±8%. However, you can seamlessly toggle to double the range at ±16%.

Sonic control with exacting precision and silence

If you’re a serious turntablist, then you understand how the right motor makes all the difference in managing noise and vibration. The SL-1210GR2’s high-speed switching power supply eschews the need for larger transformers, eliminating the subsequent concerns for mechanical vibrations that would come with them. Plus, by using a switching frequency above 100kHz, any impact on playback bandwidth is substantially limited. Moreover, the SL-1210GR2 utilizes an active noise-cancellation system by combining a noise detection device with an error amplifier. This eloquent solution introduces an inverse phase current alongside any noise detected with the power supply, thereby canceling out said noise, resulting in clean, unimpeded playbaIt’sIt’s even more efficient than a standard regulator, ensuring power is more evenly and reliably managed throughout the system.

All the important finishing touches

Stellar sound wouldn't mean a thing if the SL-1210GR2 didn't enforce it from start to finish. Technics literally started from the ground up. The feet feature silicon insulators that prevent vibration transfer to and from the surface on which your SL-1210GR2 sits. These are reinforced with cylindrical tubes that use microcell polymers for added damping. The body itself makes use of a dual-layer design, with BMC and die-cast aluminum to further reduce internal vibration transfer. Finally, with gold-plated phono terminals and heavy shielding, the SL-1210GR2 delivers simply phenomenal analog audio quality.

Engineered for aural excellence

You’ll find the SL-1210GR2 can meet virtually any sonic scholar’s needs. The 2.5kg aluminum/die-cast platter is astonishingly quiet. It features a 2-layer construction, with rear ribbing for added rigidity. Additionally, a deadening rubber lining on the rear surface further eliminates vibrations and delivers extremely clear sound. The S-shaped tonearm is equally sophisticated, featuring an aluminum pipe for ultra-lightweight rigidity. A cut-processed housing with high-precision bearings comprises the gimbal suspension, with finely tuned manual assembly and expert adjustment resulting in a sensitivity of five milligrams or less, allowing the grooves of each record to be tracked with uncompromising accuracy.

Reviews

Technics SL 1210 GR2
These are very sturdy and well made. I have used them for scratching, juggling and just listening to records. The Audio is crisp and full. The tone arm doesn't jump when back cueing a large area. I am using ortophon q Bert carts and needles mounted on ortophon head shells. I enjoy every aspect of these musical instruments. I would recommend to anyone looking for the best turntablist phonograph.
